In case you don't know, Redcycle has suspended collections. A major user of their plastics had a fire and will need about a year to rebuild. So expect bins at the supermarkets for soft plastics to be removed.

The company behind soft plastic collection points at Coles and Woolworths supermarkets has admitted it has not been recycling the items.

Frequent visitors to the store would have known that one of the organisations we supported with our donation jar was School Strike 4 Climate. This is because we are very concerned about the environment and the future we are leaving our children and grandchildren. Even though the trends have been building for decades the consequences have only recently become apparent in the obvious increasing extreme weather, especially flooding and also those that led to the record breaking fires of a few years ago. The Great Barrier Reef is also in the midst of its 4th mass bleaching in 7 years, only 6 on record. These are set to increase without stronger action.

The good news is that action will create jobs, reduce power prices, clean the air and add to and support the global effort, doing our bit. I have already voted for the climate this election, and if you wish to do the same then the following links provide some guides for every seat. Thankyou. Michael.

Yes, we are now closed. About three and a half years ago we opened our store to see if we could make a difference in low plastic, low waste shopping in Ellenbrook. We've had many challenges over that time, but in the end it has been the sustained change in shopping habits due to covid that we could not overcome. Falling customers over the last 12 months, since last February's lockdown, has made our store unsustainable.

We will get some rest and get reacquainted with our grandkids before deciding on our next steps. A new year brings new beginnings and I am sure new doors will open.

I want to thank the huge number of customers who supported our clearance sale - in record time we were able to clear most of our stock. The small amount of eco stock left went to another low waste store except for a tiny bit of Boody, which I will post a list of soon. All of the food and cleaning products that were left were given to a food bank.

The final amount from our donation jar was $77.25 which we donated to Rainforest Conservation Foundation.

It's a difficult time for small shops and especially shops committed to low waste and reducing plastic. Please support them as much as you can. There is Weigh n Pay in Woodvale and Wasteless Pantry in Mundaring, Greenwood and Bassendean. If you loved our Euca cleaning products then I have been assured they're available at Eco Revolution in Inglewood. Dave our bee guy has said his honey is available for delivery if you buy in bulk. His number is 0427 589 992. Our loose leaf tea came from Valley Tea and they have an online store at www.valleytea.com.au . Final Push to clear stock this Saturday 8 Jan. 50% OFF EVERYTHING. Our current plan is to close for good around 1pm. This is a list of the major things left.
* a smattering of eco products
* Loving earth vegan chocolate and Whistlers vegan dark choc orange.
* Dark choc buttons
* Cranberries, sultanas, apple rings, carob banana, dessicated coconut, corn chips, roasted cashews and roasted almonds, roasted and salted almonds, cornflakes, psyllium husk, tiny amount of hazelnuts and yoghurt sultanas.
* Spaghetti and penne pasta, gluten vital wheat and white bread mix. Caster sugar and bicarb soda.
* Navy beans (lots), gluten free self raising, cake mix and bread mix flours. Gluten free penne pasta.
* Smattering of herbs and spices.
* Rice bran oil.
* Liquid shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, fruit and veg wash and sanitiser
* Lots of jars
* Roller bottles 10ml
* A small amount of Boody
Until stock runs out.
