VIBRANT VISUAL ARTS TALENT SHOWCASED AT 2022 DUBBO ARTS FAIR

Launched to massive crowds in 2021, an event showcasing the region’s best in visual arts is shaping up to be another wonderful celebration of the vibrant creative sector in our local community.

Artists from the Dubbo Region will feature their work at the Dubbo Arts Fair from 23-25 September, hosted by the Western Plains Cultural Centre.

Dubbo Regional Council’s Cultural Development Coordinator Jess Moore said the art-packed weekend was a great opportunity for the community to view and purchase original artworks while supporting local talent.

“The Dubbo Arts Fair will also feature performances by local musicians, networking opportunities and great regional food and refreshments,’’ Ms Moore said.

The WPCC will be opening its whole gallery space to individual artists to showcase their work to the public during the Arts Fair weekend from 10am to 4pm.

“Artists participating in the Arts Fair will be able to promote and sell their work, and with no stall fees all the sales go directly to the artists,’’ Ms Moore said.

“The inaugural Dubbo Arts Fair held in August 2021 attracted many buyers who were looking for original creative works for their home or office that reflect our amazing region and community.’’

Ms Moore encouraged visitors to the Fair to spend time with the local artists to hear and learn from them directly.

“The 2022 event will bring all these artists and the community back together – showcasing their survival, endurance and growth.

“Dubbo Regional Council knows that supporting and nurturing local creatives, artistic experiences and events has amazing social and cultural benefits for regional communities. Events such as the Dubbo Arts Fair shine a light on the remarkable, creative people in our community and give the public the chance to see this creativity up close.’’

6pm, Friday, 23 September:
Official Opening. Guest speaker – Director of Sydney Contemporary Barry Kouldis who will have many insights into the opportunities for artists within the commercial gallery space.

An intellectual? Yes. And never deny it. An intellectual is someone whose mind watches itself. I like this, because I am happy to be both halves, the watcher and the watched. "Can they be brought together?" This is a practical question. We must get down to it. "I despise intelligence" really means: "I cannot bear my doubts." ~Albert Camus

Stay at home order for Orange, Blayney and Cabonne Local Government Areas

To protect the people of NSW from the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, new restrictions are now in place for the Orange City Council, Blayney Shire Council, and Cabonne Shire Council areas until Wednesday 28 July.

Stay at home orders apply to all people who live in these areas or have been there on or after Saturday 17 July. Everyone in these areas must stay at home unless it is for an essential reason. People in these three Council Areas cannot have visitors in their home, including social visits from family and friends outside of their household.

The reasons you may leave your home include:
• Shopping for food or other essential goods and services;
• Medical care or compassionate needs (people can leave home to have a COVID-19 vaccination unless you have been identified as a close contact);
• Exercise outdoors in groups of 2 or fewer (unless members of the same household);
• Schools will remain open, under Level 3 restrictions. All staff and students are still expected to be at school.
• Work, or tertiary education, where you cannot work or study from home.
• To attend a wedding or a funeral (but only until 12:01am on Friday 23 July 2021). After this date, funerals will be limited to ten people.
• Masks must be worn indoors (not including the home) and in outdoor settings where you cannot socially distance from others (e.g. while queuing for takeaway).

People still can have one visitor at one time to fulfil carers’ responsibilities or provide care or assistance, or for compassionate reasons, including where two people are in a relationship but do not live together.

COVID-19 testing clinics are open at Bathurst, Orange, Parkes, Blayney and Molong. It is vital people continue to come forward for testing to help us find any COVID-19 cases in the community.
