We have learnt so much about growing Australian and South African natives in our sub tropical environment! As always it comes down to soil for us and Mr Caldera has planned these beds out so well. They were prepped in the heat of Summer and allowed to rest and the results are magnificent!

We then drill our holes and amend again with our own native soil mix! Very thankful to Harley and his team for supporting us through our endless questions and trusting us with some exciting varieties for the farm!!

Mother’s Day it’s a week of prepping, harvesting, collecting, organising, keeping the farm alive,sorting the kids and bunching!! This year Mr Caldera was away until Friday lunchtime (🤪 and also his birthday) and somehow we got through it! I may have cried a few tears when our beautiful neighbour dropped him home as I was elbow deep in flower chaos!! It was a sell out weekend and we are as always thankful to every person that supported our business, sent through lovely messages and photos of the flowers being enjoyed and of course the local farms that sold us flowers! It’s impossible to grow every stem that we sell over Mother’s Day!

These two women went above and beyond to make our week easier! .centred chief flower collector and Shirley 🩷 our gorgeous neighbour who collected Mr Caldera, baked him a birthday cake and then this afternoon gifted us homemade soup for dinner!!
Will rest tonight then back to sleep planting more flower babies tomorrow ☺️

Feel honoured to be asked to make this beauty for Amelia’s school as they honour the ANZAC’s. Natural wreath base and I cringe thinking about all the floral foam wreath bases heading out today and tomorrow.

Quick thought why is the product still allowed to be produced and sold when plastic bags are banned in our retail spaces?!? 🤔

So many new colours and varieties coming up in our celosia beds and this Autumn crop is lush!! We simply planted a large variety of celosia in Summer - interplanted all colours and varieties in the same beds, harvested them on repeat and then let the final flush be visited by the pollinators and let it go to seed. We fed the bed again, shook the seeds out and let them germinate whilst the temps were high enough! The results speak for themselves. After this next flush and harvest we will repeat the process the only difference being we will harvest and keep the seed and wait until temps warm up in Spring to germinate!! 🌸
