These thoughts and plenty more have been swirling around in my brain for a couple months now.
Hereās the version that (just?) fits on Instagram. I started this analysis months ago by filling two columns on a white board with what I loved and didnāt love about running a business. Itās still propped up on my desk. Iāll add one more thing that I loved and didnāt love about running a business:
Loved: the flexibility with my time. A life not controlled by bells!! š That said, the reality of this is I did a ton of work after the kiddos went to sleep and that is not a fun or sustainable lifestyle.
Did not love: SUBSCRIPTIONS! Actually, f*** you, subscriptions!! They sound like the best idea: people sign up, get delicious and ethical chocs to their door every month (great gift, too!) but the reality of administrating it, keeping track of details (who wants which flavours which month?!) and setting up an automated email sequence to let people know their delivery was coming encourage them to engage with the brand/renew their subscription was a LIVING NIGHTMARE (or, more accurately, boring and hard to get right.
