An update and thank you to the many people from near and far who have contributed to the discussion regarding the current use of the Carisbrook Town Hall. The acting CEO and officer of Public Infrastructure called and spoke with Michael yesterday. They made comment about how passionate the community is about how the facility is currently used, making mention of those who spoke directly to Shire Employess.
Thank you to everyone who took time to comment, on Facebook posts, took time to share their experiences with Sam Mc Neil, some travelling considerable distances to be present. It all made a difference. We are humbled by your support and that it has been recognised from those in authority.

Thank you to Councillor Anna De Villiers for her phone call today and her honesty and vulnerability in describing her anger and upset at the way the decision and phone communication then formal letter was delivered. Anna explained that she required time to understand and process things herself. I spoken of my admiration of the way in which Anna has applied her former academic studies to learn and offer instruction in grant writing. She has also spent much time trying to understand council law and by laws. Asking for clarification has resulted in what has been perceived as ridicule for having to ask such questions or alternatively being labelled a trouble maker.
This has been a difficult time for many on all sides of the decision making process. We, including myself, Sally, have what mught be considered unrealistic expectations of our elected councillors who are facing what seems an insurmountable task of representing their constituents and then facing the autocratic rule of Shire employed officers, who show little understanding of our rural towns and communities with Maryborough being the Governing Economic Hub.

Thank you to those that have reached out offering commiserations and support.
Thank you to those who knew we weren't able to operate today but turned up anyway to talk to the reporter from the Maryborough Advertiser travelling from and wide despite the biting wind and damp conditions.
Thank you to those that encouraged me initially to talk to the reporter when he was covering the Lions Foodshare in Carisbrook, making it possible to express our collective and individual feelings.

A big thank you to Councillor Geoff Bartlett who took the time to return a phone call to explain the changes in governance at the Shire and the limited powers elected Councillors have. It was heartfelt, we felt listened too and we truly appreciated it.

We received some disappointing news Wednesday July 1st, the start of the new financial year, that after a number of years successfully supporting the Carisbrook Historical Society with Market Rent. The Historical Society , Mercury and Town Hall Market have, over recent years had various meetings with representatives from Central Goldfields Shire, but the current relationship is to end with the Shire now wanting to overseas the administration of the Town Hall to take place immediately. It took until the mail today for us to receive the letter outlining the terms of the changes
