At just 15 years old, Canowindra local Emily van der Struik has launched Cabonne Hamper Co, a business dedicated to showcasing the very best of the Cabonne region.
Cabonne Hamper Co offers beautifully curated gift hampers filled with quality, locally made products. Emily’s goal is simple: to support small businesses and make it easier for people to enjoy a taste of the region without spending hours driving from town to town.
“I’ve always loved creating gift hampers for family and friends for special occasions,” Emily said. “Starting Cabonne Hamper Co felt like a natural step. It lets me turn something I enjoy into a business while promoting local makers and growers.”
Each hamper is thoughtfully assembled, featuring products from artisans, farmers, and small businesses across Cabonne. By purchasing a hamper, customers not only receive a unique gift but also help keep money circulating in the local economy.
Starting a business as a teenager hasn’t been without challenges. “Buying stock upfront, finding the right products, and meeting local makers has been a big learning curve,” Emily explained. “But it’s all worth it when I see the finished hampers ready to share.”
Emily’s immediate goal is to deliver as many hampers as possible before Christmas and to have them stocked in local shops.
