As National Volunteer Week comes to a close, we're still celebrating our fabulously hard-working volunteers, like Janet.

After stepping back from work, Janet has stepped into a new rhythm of volunteering that brings her joy, structure and connection.

Janet knows her regulars by name and loves spending time in the kids' clothing and toy section where she helps families find something special and creates moments of delight for little ones.

And her impact extends far beyond customer service. Janet is deeply committed to inclusion and takes pride in supporting her colleagues with disability to feel confident, valued and at ease.

This National Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating Elizabeth 💙

For nearly five years, Elizabeth has brought kindness, warmth and connection to every shift at Good Sammy Belmont.

She loves a good chat and treasures her conversations with customers, knowing that even a brief, friendly exchange can brighten someone’s day and remind them that they matter. For her, volunteering is about more than helping in the store, it is about offering her time, care and support to those who might need it most.

It's National Volunteer Week, and next up we’re celebrating Wendy 💙

For the past eight years, Wendy has been a quiet force behind the scenes at Good Sammy Booragoon, helping sort and process donations with care, kindness and dedication.

For her, volunteering isn’t about being front and centre it’s about contributing in a way that feels authentic and aligned to her strengths. And at Good Sammy, that flexibility is exactly what makes volunteering so fulfilling!

“I’m a bit quiet, so I prefer working away from the register and customer interactions.” Wendy shares. “There’s always a place for someone based on their skills, preferences and abilities. That’s what I really like about volunteering here.”

Wendy is a great reminder that every volunteering contribution matters, and that even quiet achievers can find purpose and joy.

It's National Volunteer Week and you know we'll take any opportunity to celebrate our spectacular volunteers!

First up is Steff, who you might have seen dancing away to in store tunes while she sorts books, helps in the changerooms or organises the hat displays.

Steff has been a volunteer for four years and through that time has built confidence, learnt new skills, developed friendships and has become a valuable member of the Freo team. Her story is a powerful reminder that volunteering is not only about helping others, but can also be about discovering connection, purpose and belonging.
