The SFA Press for Kids books are now safely lodged with this remarkable archive. Run mainly by volunteers, and housed in the University of Canberra library, it holds over 40,000 books. Plus a collection of original manuscripts and illustrations. Some interviews too, and ephemera about various Australian children’s books.

The first SFA Press for Kids book was a story about Dottie, one of my chooks. I’d never kept chooks before, and was amazed she could fly up and over the fence! The story tells how she came back home. The illustrator, Ron Meerbeek introduces a magpie into the story, and he then showed up in all the stories after that! Here he is at the window watching Dottie and her friends. ; ;
