Next Week Only!! Book now for May 14, 15, 16, fpr "Instant" -a double bill of very interesting nights of full production spontaneous theatre we're quite proud of at Canberra REP - our city's original proscenium arch theatre! Here's the ticket link: https://canberrarep.org.au/content/book-online-choose-performance?ID=IMP3

It's a double feature, with two completely different examples of what improvised theatre can be, with two casts that know how to give you the best of that!

Act I is an original show format by Nick Byrne previously produced in around 12 countries to date and finally returning to Canberra. It explores the inner worlds of everyone around us, as what drives them through their lives and perfectly normal interactions is really that important thing that is one their mind, remaining unmentioned, (except to you in the audience, of course). You did not think improv could be quite like this one!

Act II gives you exactly what you might have expected from improv, but truly at its best, as the crew from Canberra's most successful Instant Cabaret create a REP Theatre size mega version, full of fun short games and scenes and songs, all instantly created at a level that genuinely impresses, but chiefly leaves you laughing a lot..... which we need right now, don't we!

Three nights only, so book right away, here: https://canberrarep.org.au/content/book-online-choose-performance?ID=IMP3

Please note that where limited seats are available these seats may not be together. WHEELCHAIR SEATS at any advertised venue cannot be booked online. It explores the inner worlds of everyone around us, as what drives them through their lives and perfectly normal interactions is really that important thing that is one their mind, remaining unmentioned, (except to you in the audience, of course). This Wednesday April 22 @ Smith's Alternative
When can we see the Impro ACT teachers perform, themselves? Can they perform well, themselves? Can they practice what they preach?

Find out, and dare the "Nix" (Nick Fraser and Nick Byrne) to improvise anything you think they might find a challenge! If you want to, you could even dare them to play a scene with you.

If you're one of those Canberrans who has been slightly improv-curious for a while, but never quite took one of the Impro Classes in Canberra, this show is a great chance to check out the teachers and the vibe of the community.

Obviously, they have no idea what the content of the show will be, but with these two, there'll certainly be a few laughs, something inspirational, and no doubt a song or two. Just what a Wednesday night needs.
Tickets:

Wednesday April 22, 7:30pm - 9:30pm | An Improvised theatrical show featuring Impro ACT's two teachers; Nick... and Nick!

Just over two years ago, I began to write down everything I feel I have learned, experienced, conceptualised, or produced, in the field of theatrical stage improvisation, including exercises, orignal show formats, concepts, philosophy, travel anecdotes, teaching tips, inspirations and motivations, everything.

It was originally intended to simply document my involvement, regardless of how many people ever read it, before my genes took me into a zone where I started forgetting stuff. Too late, hah! But not toooooo late, it seems. Today, it's ticked over 287500 words, and is nowhere near complete.

Everyone was putting out a book, post COVID, and a very sensible friend, suggested that because there was so much material, perhaps I'd be better off to follow the lead of the literary greats of the 19th Century, (I think that was a compliment), and just release it as weekly journal entries.

Well, that's worked a treat! Some of my earliest subscribers have over 100 entries, so far, and new folks join regularly. It's super cheap, so I don't think I'll be retiring on this, but hey, if I eventually make it into several books, I don't think that's a retirement plan, either 😉

So, hey, if you'd like to just read a few little bits of my writing, free, without the more detailed and more practical content, you can take a look at the profile page: https://www.facebook.com/an.improviser.s.learning.journal

Or if you'd like to try out a small subscription to get entries in your email that you can keep and compile forever, with loads of practical stuff you can use, you can do that here: https://impro.com.au/learning-journal/

Thanks, so much, to all my existing subscribers. Your positive feedback helps me know it's worthwhile and keeps me writing day after day ❤

Hey Canberra! Master uncertainty and thrive on it, in these uncertain times, have clearly the funnest highlight of each week, and dramatically improve your performance on or off stage with simple, yet inspiring techniques you'll use every single day.

Hey, and if you would like to perform on stage, that opportunity is guaranteed at Impro ACT, (no auditions or elite ensemble to break into), though there's no pressure to perform, if you just want to enjoy the fun, inspirational communications learning, and the most diverse and welcoming environment you'll find anywhere.

Learn to live in the moment, gaining fun and practical tools anyone can master for stage and life, whether you're a performer or just want more confidence socially or to improve work presentations.

They do fill quickly, so now is the time 🙂
