Rachel had been struggling with her contact point for months, she thought it was her technique. Today she came in for a service on one of my handmade violins. I checked the bow was recently re-haired then noticed a hard rosin build-up on the strings. A quick careful clean with an alcohol wipe and the improvement in contact was immediate. Sometimes it is a simple fix. I heartily recommend a regular service. Sometimes it is the instrument.
