Care instructions for your timber products
Thank you for purchasing / considering to purchase a rustic timber product and supporting our local small business. Please be advised that any custom furniture ordered will incur a deposit upon ordering which is non refundable. We would like to supply a small list of care instructions and points to be aware of with your new piece/s. Timber is a living pr
oduct that does move, this can be in the form of expanding and contracting (Shrinking and swelling), cracking or bending/warping. Whilst we do our best to mitigate these issues; live timber products are sensitive to environmental changes. These changes can be seasonal, (Summer to Winter) humidity changes and wind influence. When a piece of timber moves from one environment to another it has to acclimate to each different environment (for example if a table is built in humid Brisbane then shipped to cold environment such as Stanthorpe you can expect the timber to react in the form of aforementioned ways.) Over time with shrinking, screws can loosen and may require tightening. This can be done by the customer under instruction from any Kings Timber Designs (KTD) representative. KTD may also attend personally depending on where the customer is in relation to the workshop. Please note that we do not recommend our products to be outdoors in the open air for permanent periods of time. Open air example would be outside where no permanent roof exists covering the product. Exposing the timber to sun and or rain will rapidly deteriorate the coating and can cause significant changes in the stability of the timber. We also strongly recommend not covering our products with furniture covers, as this ‘suffocates’ the timber and creates an environment that will cause the timber to undergo significant changes and potential unwanted defects. For these reasons our products are designed for internal use and outdoor use under a permanent structure or roof only. If you disregard the recommendations outlined above, KTD will not be liable for damages/faults that arise in your purchased products. When using one of our timber products please be advised that anything sharp or hot may cause scratches or marks in the coating. For this reason, we always recommend any platters or warming plates to have a soft foot underneath to aid protection of the coating. Whilst a cup of coffee/tea will be fine to place onto a surface sealed in varnish, we still encourage the use of coasters. A trivet or heat pad should always be used when anything hotter than a coffee/tea be placed on the table, for example a dish straight from the oven or a pot from the stove. Cleaning your products are relatively simple, we use and recommend general multi-purpose spray and a micro-fibre cloth to wipe off dust, spills and crumbs. Whilst it is not necessary to use a furniture spray, you may use one to polish after cleaning. (We use Pledge Lemon Enhancing Polish, which is available from Woolworths) When using a polish please follow the instructions. KTD is always available to discuss care instructions further to help maintain your purchase/s. Our contact details are :
