Three of my favourite gadgets: a Newton's Cradle, a Crookes Radiometer, and a Levitating Lamp!

Crookes Radiometers turn when light hits them, and (to my delight) there is *still* controversy about why they spin, 140 years since their invention.

The lamp emits just enough LED light to spin the Crookes Radiometer for several minutes at a time - a real surprise, because usually direct sunlight is necessary. These are very nice quality radiometers!

Of course, I had to capture the very cool levitating marble within the lamp that doubles as its on/off switch. 😁 Physics is so cool.

Our store, viewed through one of our new double Shashibo Cubes!

Okay, dumb idea, but I'm still working on my first coffee. I'll be open today (Sunday 14th) until 3pm, in my cosy, colourful store full of great things to do when it's wet! 😁☔️

Our very own in-house miniatures painter, Rochelle, has somehow managed amidst her hectic schedule to dust off her skills, and test out our new range from Pluto Minis.

The verdict: they paint up beautifully. Meet Ollie the Nature Elemental!

Quality miniatures are tricky to come by, and so we are proud to offer this new range of high resolution, triple washed resin miniatures from Pluto Minis. For your gaming needs... or just to look seriously cool on your shelf!!

Puzzles are a huge part of our homeschool day. They support maths, science, writing... everything!

Not because the puzzles are educational.
Most of them aren’t.

But puzzles help kids learn that difficult things aren't something to be avoided - they can actually be fun!

For example, imagine there was a huge arrow pointing to Wally on every Where’s Wally page, making it easy for you to find him…

That wouldn’t be fun 😐

The fun part is that it’s difficult!

When kids experience difficulties through play, challenges don’t become something they shy away from. They instead become something they can embrace and actually enjoy!

Once kids learn that difficult things can be fun, that mindset tends to flow through to every subject they find difficult. (Hello there maths 😉)

With that in mind, these are some of my favourite puzzles to bring out during our homeschool days (and the kids love them too 😜)

I’ll add more details in the comments explaining how to play - as well as a video of the “suspects” in the game, because the components in these games are gorgeous!

If you’ve played these puzzles yourself (or your kids have played them), I’d love to hear what you think of them! 💚

Your mission, Martians, is to swoop down on the pathetic denizens of the primitive planet Earth and scoop up as many of the inhabitants as you can manage.

You are interested in samples of the chicken, cow, and human populations, so that you can determine which one is actually in charge.

The Earthlings might manage to put up a feeble defense, but surely nothing that a small taste of your death rays can't handle. Make Mars proud!

Martian Dice is a simple yet subtle dice game that can be played anywhere, by anyone!
