✨ The Hidden World of Graeme Base is an exhibition of unpublished drawings & sketches by Graeme Base, the celebrated author and illustrator of Animalia and The Eleventh Hour. These never-before-seen original works will be available to purchase for the first time. Join our list for early access to the artworks and pre-sales. 🔗 in bio.

📅 Opening Feb 28th, 5pm – 8pm. This is a free event, and Graeme Base will be in attendance.

This exhibition will run from March 1st – March 22nd, 2026.

📚 BOOK SIGNING: Graeme Base will be signing books at the gallery on Saturday, March 14. Priority signing for visitors with small children or limited mobility will run from 10am to 11am, followed by general access from 11am to 1pm. A selection of Graeme’s books will be available for purchase. Due to expected demand, signings are limited to two books per person.

Across a career of more than 40 years, Graeme Base has created over 600 published artworks, yet thousands more have remained tucked away in studio drawers and archival boxes. In The Hidden World of Graeme Base, he unveils a large selection of these long-hidden drawings, designs and doodles for the first time, offering a rare glimpse into his creative process.

Graeme Base is one of the world’s leading creators of picture books. His madly detailed alphabet book Animalia received international acclaim when it was first published in 1986 and has now sold over three million copies. The book has also inspired an animated TV series, has its own app and is the first offering in a detailed digital education program called The Graeme Base Educational Suite. Amongst numerous awards across many of his published works, Graeme has received the 2007 Speech Pathology Book of the Year (Younger Readers), the 2007 Wilderness Society Environment Award and the 1989 Children’s Book Council of Australia Picture Book of the Year
