The long held tradition of Show Society competitions is almost as authentic as BRUCE's mothers handwriting. Once again this year we are entering her award winning Tomato Relish in for judging. It can only be assumed the old guard of country Oz will approve of the flavor like they did last year? At least that is the hoping.

BRUCE’s Book Club #3 ~ The BIGGEST ESTATE on EARTH by Bill Gammage (2011).

On the Murray in 1844, a "natural avenue of gum-trees extends, tow rows of noble trees growing at almost equal distance, the open grassy space between each row being at least 100 feet in width, so regular are the intervals between them, that it is almost difficult, at first sight, to persuade one's self that they were not planted by hands of men." ~ ~ The BIGGEST ESTATE on EARTH, pp11.

I would say you would be hard pressed to read this book & not perceive this landscape in a different light after doing so. Nor is it an easy read as Bill goes into quite a bit of detail outlining what was observed by those who 1st walked this continent as Europeans. A read reference book to take your time reading as we cone to better understand how to habitat this land & not occupy it.

"Home from the airport at 8:30pm. Both kids waiting up for me to put them to bed while I'm still yet to have dinner. A dapper young pharmacist from Bridgeport, Connecticut way back in 1912 called Wilbur Lincoln Scoville inventing the unassuming & very scientific “Scoville Organoleptic Test” or SHU for short. This simple scale is now used globally to determine the hotness of chili.

So just in case you where wondering BRUCE's BOBBY DAZZLER has Cayenne & Thai Peppers (30~100k SHU = Mild) while our GONE TROPPO has Habanero (100~350k SHU = Medium). In a not to distant future BRUCE plans on making a STRUTH Hot Sauce with Trinidad Scorpion (1.4m~2.2m SHU = Not for the faint of heart). Stay tuned for regular updates.
