There’s something pretty special about being recommended by someone who has experienced your work from the other side of the bridal party 🥰

Nikki was one of Grace and Ben’s bridesmaids when I created their wedding florals, and when it came time for Nikki and Will to get married, she reached out and asked me to be part of their day too.

It honestly means so much when couples have such a wonderful experience that they’re happy to recommend me to their friends and family. It’s one of the biggest compliments I can receive 🤍

And then there’s the funny little full-circle part of this story…

Despite creating Grace and Ben’s wedding florals, I had actually never met Grace! I didn’t deliver her bouquets personally, so when I arrived at Nikki’s house on the morning of her wedding, I had absolutely no idea she was sitting in the makeup chair 😂

In my defence, she had her back to me, her eyes were closed and she was in full glam mode with the Blush’d girls, while I was very much in florist mode.

I’m also very used to walking into wedding mornings where I’ve never met the bride, so I’m often quietly scanning the room for something that says BRIDE while trying to work out who is who amongst a sea of robes, PJs & gorgeous hair and makeup 😂

So I did my thing, delivered all the flowers and headed off… only to have a little lightbulb moment afterwards:

“OMG. WAS THAT GRACE IN THE MAKEUP CHAIR????” 😂

Cue immediate overthinking: “What if she thinks I didn’t care about her wedding? What if she thinks I’m a horrible florist for not recognising her?” 😂 I never wanted to assume Grace was one of Nikki's bridesmaids so I also wasn't on the look out.

Classic Bridie.

I absolutely love that Nikki chose me to create her flowers after experiencing my work as one of Grace’s bridesmaids. Those little connections are one of my favourite parts of this job 🤍

Here are some gorgeous moments from Nikki and Will’s wedding, with Grace in the bridal party this time around 🥰

🌸 7 YEARS OF BLOOMS BY BRIDIE 🌸

Seven years ago this week, Blooms by Bridie officially became a thing.

At the time I thought I'd do a few weddings, make some pretty flowers, have a bit of fun with it and see what happened.

LOL. Classic Bridie.

Seven years, 400+ weddings, approximately a bazillion trips to the flower markets and enough vases to open a small hire company later… here we are. 😂 Things sure did escalate.

Somewhere along the way my little side hustle became a proper business. One that's taken me to some incredible venues, introduced me to the most wonderful people, challenged me in ways I never expected, and given me a job I genuinely love.

It hasn't always been glamorous. There's been countless early mornings (when I am NOT a morning person), 12+ hour flower days, flower-related injuries, sheer panic and a dash of exhaustion.

I can confirm I can still tetris the absolute bejesus out of my car, and I still question what I'm doing with my life at least once a month.

But there have also been so many moments where I've stood back at the end of a wedding, looked at what we've created, and thought… bloody hell 🥹

I'm ridiculously grateful to every couple who has trusted me with their flowers, every vendor who has recommended or supported me, my very special freelancer who's jumped in whenever I've needed an extra pair of hands, and every friend and family member who has put up with my business and the unsociable hours that come with it.

And to my husband Col, who has been there through all of it and has somehow accepted that our home is now approximately 37% florist warehouse… thank you. 😂❤️

So here's to seven years of Blooms by Bridie.

Still flower obsessed. Still winging it occasionally. Still loving every minute.

And apparently still running out of places to put vases, as I look at the 197 that have arrived for the next three months of weddings 🙃🌸

Thanks everyone 🥰

One thing you'll hear me talk about a lot is making your wedding flowers work harder for you.

Your flowers don't have to have just one purpose.

With a little planning, many of your floral pieces can have a second (or even third!) life throughout the day.

For Chloe and James' wedding, we did exactly that:

🌿 Their welcome sign flowers were moved across to decorate their seating chart.

🌿 Their aisle entry flowers became the perfect feature at the base of their cake table.

🌿 Their ceremony meadows were repurposed along the base of their long guest tables, bringing the reception space to life without needing extra florals.

🌿 A few arrangements were also moved over to the lounge area, creating a beautiful backdrop for some relaxed portraits later in the evening.

The result? Their flowers were seen, enjoyed and photographed all day long, not just during the ceremony.

It's something I chat through with all of my couples during the planning process, because if you've invested in beautiful flowers, I want you (and your guests!) to enjoy them for as long as possible. 🤍

🩷 Flowerful tablescapes for Praise Mountain Estate 🩷

Your tables can be minimalistic or more floral heavy, whatever your preference is.

The larger arrangements in this image can be used down your aisle, and repurposed to your guest tables to create this full and luscious look.

Add some table runners for texture, layer in some candles for warmth and your tables can look so romantic (and add chairs of course 😜).

Reach out if you'd love to chat table flowers, what would work for your venue and ways to make the most of your floral investment.

One of my favourite things about wedding flowers is that they become part of moments like this.

The ceremony is over, the nerves have disappeared, and suddenly it's just two people sitting together, laughing, taking it all in... bouquet still in hand.

Creamy garden roses, blush ranunculus, pops of pink, delicate chamomile and the sweetest touch of blue hydrangea, all wrapped up in one joyful bouquet.

Helena and Jason's Weddings, Retreats + Events Venue wedding was filled with soft, romantic blooms and the happiest kind of energy. What a beautiful day to have been part of. 🤍

If you would love for me to be a part of your Gold Coast Wedding, I'd love to hear from you. Details can be found in my bio.
