Today I'd like to formally introduce you to a new literary Cross Stitch Bookmark that I have had in my store for awhile but hadn't had the chance to show you yet. I must say that I had a great pleasure of designing and stitching this bookmark after a personal request from one of my customers. So, please meet 'Anne Shirley' from the timeless classic Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery.
I'm so happy that I finally got to design a Cross stitch bookmark of a really special literary character as Anne. I love her positive and optimistic nature, her sincerity and kind heart, but above all I love her hyper imagination! Just the things she comes up with blows me away everytime! She always seems to get into some kind of trouble or other, but she's always humble enough to admit her mistakes and positive enough to fix it and see the light side of every situation. She's the most unboring literary character I've ever read in a book! 😊😁
What are your favourite things about Anne Shirley?
I chose to depict Anne when she first arrived at Avonlea with just her carpet bag. That sweet first encounter with Matthew always warms my heart:
"Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we know all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there? But am I talking too much? People are always telling me I do. Would you rather I didn't talk? If you say so I'll stop. I can STOP when I make up my mind to it, although it's difficult." - Anne to Matthew, L.M. Montgomery.
The bookmark is carefully hand crosstitched using DMC threads on quality Aida cloth, with quality felt backing and a beaded tassel. I'm certain it will make for an excellent reading companion. As a piece of crossstitch art, it also has heirloom potential for all book lovers, especially lovers of all things 'Anne Shirley', making it a great gift idea and a special addition to anyone who loves collecting interesting literary items.
