We invite Brisbane Teacher Librarians & Educators to join us on Thursday 3 September 3:30 -4:00pm (networking) and 4- 6:00pm (guest speakers) for an evening of books, networking, and refreshments.

At our Read Between The Wines Networking Event you can connect with other Teacher Librarians & Educators, engage with authors, and discover new books for your school library.

To make the evening even more enjoyable, there will be wine, nibbles, tea, and coffee available for you to indulge in as you mingle and network. It’s the perfect setting to relax, socialize, and share your passion for books and education with fellow Teacher Librarians and Educators.

Writing What You Know: Turning Lived Experience into Stories Kids Love

For Teacher Librarians * Educators * Parents * Authors

What happens when authors mine their own lives for the stories only they can tell? Join best-selling children’s authors Kristin Darell and Kate Foster for a candid conversation about writing from the inside out.

Kate channels her own voice and life as a person with autism into A River I Must Be, an upper middle grade verse novel that draws us in to this authentic and unfiltered world.

Kristin also draws on her real experiences, in her case as an identical twin, in her popular middle grade series It’s a Twin Thing. Her new release The Big Switch, captures the closeness and frustrations of the twin experience for young readers.

Together, they’ll explore how personal truth can become universal story — and how leaning into your own experience, rather than shying away from it, can make fiction more honest and deeply felt by the kids who read it.
