ACE / RAD 1:18 Mad Max (Max Rockatansky's 1975 Holden HJ Sandman Panel van.
Technical Specs:
The front end was replaced with a HJ Caprice with Ford XC GXL rectangular headlights. The engine was a 308 cubic inch V8 with an M21 4 speed manual transmission. The interior options included full instrument sports dash with GTS steering wheel, HJ Bucket seats and full-length center consol.
The body was fitted with GTS fenders, tow bar and 1970's era luggage rack with runners.
The wheels were ROH Wildfire mags fitted with B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A 50 tyres 265/50/14 on the rear and 245/50/14 on the front.
Trivia:
The production Company couldn't afford to buy the van outright. Instead, it was paid for by installments or leased during filming.
Only the driver's side of the airbrushed mural was completed.
This Replica:
The accurately replicated finer details of the iconic movie vehicle, especially the "one of a kind" custom front.
The windows are thick as per diecast models
The front wheels are posable.
All roof rack items are included separately.
The cut lines have been made deeper than the earlier release.
The model comes complete with Cundalini's severed hand hanging off the back, paling through the radiator, loaded luggage rack and mural. Main design contributors were Tonny Hanna of ACE Models and Ross Hamilton of DiecastGOLD - with special thanks to Dion and Brooke of DB Graphics for their accurate reproduction of the van's mural.
