More than 160 people, many of them children, were killed in the strike on Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab, Iranian authorities said.

There is anger and uncertainty over the fact that no one has admitted responsibility for the most publicized civilian casualties since the start of the strikes.

The U.S. and Israel have hit thousands of targets in the country, killing the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, among nearly 1,000 other people, according Iranian state media.

Tehran is striking back, hitting Israel and several other countries in the region allied with the U.S., including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain.

Six U.S. service members were among those killed in its counterassault, as well as 11 people in Israel, while dozens have been killed in Israeli strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that U.S. forces “would not deliberately target a school,” adding that the Defense Department “would be investigating that if that was our strike.”

Over the weekend, U.S. Central Command said it was looking into reports of civilian deaths. Asked for any updates on Tuesday, the Israeli military declined to comment.

War is the business of violence and the clearest sign of humanity’s failure.

The recent attacks on Iran by the US and Israel risk pushing the Middle East into deeper chaos and threatening global peace. History shows that bombs never bring freedom or security — they bring destruction, fear, and the suffering of ordinary people. Children, families, and civilians always pay the highest price.

The Iranian people already face oppression and hardship. Foreign military attacks will not liberate them; they only deepen violence and instability.

Australia must not be dragged into another catastrophic war.

We call on the Australian Government to:
• Refuse any involvement in a war against Iran
• Prevent the use of Australian bases in this conflict
• Support diplomacy, peace, and protection for civilians

The real solution is to move our global discourse from unrightfulness to righteousness — from domination, violence, and power politics toward justice, rights, and human dignity.
