Almost an hour of CNC time packed into under a minute.

Hope the view’s good from up there with this bird’s eye look at a batch of Level 3 Vaults and Spell Tracker being cut. Running mostly at 16x speed to squeeze it all in.

We’re going big this year.
8 conventions on the calendar, the most I’ve ever attempted.

To make things even more interesting, Sydney, Perth, and AVCon are all back-to-back weekends 😅

It’s going to be a big year, but I’m keen to get out there, meet more of you, and bring a whole lot of Crit Craft with me.

Which ones are you heading to?

American Walnut Adventurer Vault

Many of you have been asking for darker timber options, so here it is. American Walnut, also known as Black Walnut.

American Walnut is a premium North American hardwood, prized for its rich chocolate-brown colour and durability. It’s popular among woodworkers for its stability, excellent machining properties, and the luxurious finish it produces.

This one came together beautifully, especially with a bit of figure showing through the lid. While it’s known for its straight grain, it’s always nice when a piece like this brings a little extra character.

Fijian Mahogany x Tasmanian Oak Adventurer Vault

This is another Adventurer Vault that didn’t go to plan at first. It was actually the first vault I decided to fix this way by mixing in another timber. Instead of fighting the mistake, I leaned into it and used a contrasting timber to turn it into a feature. What started as an experiment has now become one of my favourite ways to fix mistakes.

The rich tone of the Fijian Mahogany is broken up by a subtle streak of Tasmanian Oak. It’s a small contrast, but it really makes the whole piece pop. Pair it with a Tasmanian Oak Card Card and it would tie together beautifully.

Just like the other mixed vaults, I’m honestly surprised this one has stuck around long enough for me to get proper photos. I thought it would’ve been gone by now.

If you’re interested in this one-off Adventurer Vault, it’s still available in the store. Grab it before someone else does.

First post of the year, and it feels right to start with a comeback piece.

This Adventure Vault didn’t go to plan at first. I accidentally pushed the CNC with a dull cutting bit a little too far, and it cut right through the lid just as it was almost finished. Instead of scrapping it, I leaned into the mistake and fixed it using a contrasting timber. What started as an error turned into one of my favourite combinations I’ve made.

Camphor laurel paired with American walnut just works. The warmth of the walnut against the camphor gives it so much character and really brings out those darker tones. Honestly, I’m surprised this one’s stayed around long enough to get photos, I thought it would’ve been snapped up instantly.

This vault is a good reminder that mistakes aren’t failures, they’re just part of the process.

If you’re interested in this one-off Adventure Vault, it’s still available in the store. Grab it before someone else does.

Working through a cracked knot is always a gamble. Sometimes it becomes a beautiful feature, but it always needs a bit of care to bring out the best in it.

This Red Cedar vault had one of those trouble spots, but the CNC slowly removed it layer by layer until it was ready to become a dice tray lid.

The final result turned out great, and the knot on the opposite side adds a lot of character. Always satisfying when a risky piece of timber still comes together.

It’s officially been a year since I introduced Class Notebooks to my lineup!

So I thought it’d be fun to take a look back and see which colours and classes came out on top.
Some surprises, some expected results… and a few classes that clearly need to work on their literacy skills…
