Growing Paphiopedilum (Slipper) Orchids A
Paphiopedilum orchids are among the easiest orchids to grow, making them a favourite for both beginners
and collectors. They thrive in bright, indirect light, away from harsh afternoon sun. Keep the potting mix
evenly moist but never waterlogged , and use a well-draining orchid mix designed for terrestrial orchids,
These orchids enjoy moderate temperatures and good humidity, ideally between 40-60%. Unlike many orchids, Paphiopedilums don't have water-storing pseudobulbs, so they shouldn't be allowed to dry out completely. Feed regularly with a diluted orchid fertiliser during active growth, and repot every 1-2 years as the mix breaks down.

With the right care, Paphiopedilums reward growers with their unique slipper-shaped blooms and long-
lasting flowers that can brighten your collection for weeks or even months 🌸✨️

The Zygocactus, commonly known as the Christmas or Thanksgiving cactus, is a stunning and low-maintenance houseplant cherished for its vibrant, seasonal blooms. Unlike many succulents, Zygocactus thrives in cooler, indirect light and prefers slightly moist soil, making it perfect for indoor environments. Its segmented, flattened stems give it a delicate, trailing appearance, ideal for hanging baskets or decorative pots.
One of the most captivating features of Zygocactus is its flowers, which appear in a dazzling array of colors, including shades of red, pink, purple, yellow, orange, and white. Blooming typically occurs in early winter, bringing a splash of colours indoors when most other plants have gone dormant. With minimal care—occasional watering, indirect sunlight, and a cool resting period after blooming—these plants can live for decades, returning with a vibrant floral display each year. Zygocactus is truly a symbol of enduring beauty and seasonal cheer.
