we are traumatised & heartbroken by the horrific terrorist attack in bondi yesterday and will be closed today.

thank you to all of you who have reached out with kind words of support. we were still open yesterday when it happened & went into lockdown with staff, customers & panicked strangers off the street all taking shelter in the backyard behind the store with our building neighbours. truly terrifying.

and thank you to all the first responders, police, ambos, lifeguards, security and brave members of the public who rise to meet such a terrible occasion. we see you, we are grateful.

as a bondi community and as a jewish community, we are not ok, but we will be in time. the only way to combat such darkness & hate is with light & love. we will be lighting our chanukah candles with a deeper significance this year & sending love to you all. ✨

As we emerge from 3+ months of lockdown I just wanted to take a moment to express my immense gratitude to our entire Abode community. To our local customers, continuing to connect with you (and your doggos 🐾🐶🖤) at the door was just the personal boost we needed to keep going. To our online customers from near and far, it gives us such a thrill to receive shopify notifications at all times of the day and night, and we are really enjoying taking great care packing your orders, thanks for your support. To our suppliers, thank you for all your hard work to keep us stocked with goodies. To the gorgeous Abode team of absolute angels, obviously I couldn’t do any of this without you and love you all to bits, we made it!! And lastly, a special shout out to my mini, my heart, my love, Zahara Esther. As a solo parent it’s been quite challenging the past few months juggling the daily door service, all the local online order deliveries and the late night never-ending admin (not to mention homeschooling 🤦‍♀️), but her incredible patience, good humour and boundless love has been the fuel to my fire. Thank you Nunu, you are my forever inspiration.
OK, speech done 😂, now a bit of housekeeping... From today we are back to our regular opening hours, but not everything is back to normal just yet. During this transition of coming out of lockdown we will continue to strictly adhere to NSW government guidelines. For our in-store experience this means:
- checking in with the QR code
- providing proof of double vaccination with digital certificate
- respecting 1.5m social distance
- mask wearing at all times
Please be mindful that our staff are facilitating a safe environment for all and we kindly request your patience and respect during this time.

OK folks, it’s ANOTHER shop update... due to increasing NSW government restrictions across Greater Sydney we are currently closed for in-store purchasing, but open online 24/7. We’re also continuing to offer FREE LOCAL DELIVERY on any purchase, and you can still click & collect 7 days a week. If you can’t find what you’re looking for online, just give us a call and we can do it over the phone.
But most importantly, please be kind to one another! It’s such a crazy uncertain time for everyone & a little kindness goes a long way. Whether it’s a greeting card in the mail, checking on a neighbour who lives alone, smiling from behind your mask, or supporting small local businesses, it all counts. Stay safe & see you soon! Store update - Just jumping on to let you know our doors are still open, but really just so our rock star staff can continue packing your online orders & receive deliveries of new goodies. So even though we are open, we’re strongly encouraging all our lovely customers to shop online via our website (link in bio), and if you’re local we will deliver it for free! (usually the same day if your order comes in before 2pm), and of course contactless click & collect is always available. We also offer free wrapping on any purchase and can include a handwritten note if you’re sending a gift, also free! If you’re after something in particular and you can’t find it on our website please give us a call and we can do your order over the phone. We are here for you! But please be mindful that we are running on bare minimum staffing, so we appreciate your patience and thank you so much for your ongoing support. 🥰🥰

‘We really miss hugging people’ - we really do! But instead of hugs we’re going to spread some love with our wallet.

We are keenly aware of the massive impact this lockdown is having on our local cafes and restaurants, so for the duration we’ll be showing our support by picking up takeaway (not using the delivery services that take most of the profit) from a different Bondi venue every day.

Quick covid update... Well, you won’t be able to ride the ferris wheel this year (Bondi Winter Magic Festival has been cancelled 😢), but you can still shop at abode. After receiving direct confirmation from Service NSW yesterday that retail can continue to trade, we will be keeping to our regular trading hours. Of course, we are taking every precaution to keep covid safe. As such we ask that you please respect our staff by sanitising your hands on entry (there’s a dispenser by the door), check in with the QR code, adhere to physical distancing guidelines, wear a mask, and if you are experiencing even the slightest sniffle, please stay home.

Even better, shop our range online! We offer contactless FREE LOCAL DELIVERY (no minimum, check website for eligible postcodes), free click & collect, and just $10 flat rate postage Australia wide, or FREE for orders over $100. And as always, free gift wrapping available for any purchase.

We’re busy behind the scenes adding lots of new products that have just arrived, and we’ve got more on the way this week, so keep an eye out for new goodies! It’s just not possible however to have our full range online, so if you don’t see what you’re after, please give us a call & we can do a phone order.

🔥hot product alert🔥 these insanely cool 1000 piece puzzles from local lifeguard and photographer are disappearing fast. our first drop sold out in a week and we just managed to nab the very last of the current batch of stock, and now even most of those are gone! a few bronte left (first pic) and at time of posting just 1 ‘happy people’ (second pic, at bondi). ‘icebergs summer’ (third pic) has sold out but another very limited drop is due in about 3 weeks, with the rest arriving in september. comes in a gorgeous image-wrapped box. check the website for more deets, link in bio. ✌️🧩💙
