My Mum and Dad started the business known as Hazels when I was only 4 years old.Being their eldest child I have been helping in the shop since before I could see over the counter. It was a small country store that sold a variety of items. We had a large migrant hostel at Smithfield, so Dad sold secondhand furniture, and helped many migrants to establish themselves in the new city of Elizabeth. I t

ook over from Dad over 25 years ago, although he still helped in the shop and was greatly loved by his customers right up until his recent death.
