Hi everyone out there in our beautiful community. Sharon here again from Cartercreatif. I hope you will all read to the end. Please.

The last ten (10) years or more have been very challenging for me and my family. Both parents had different types of dementia. My father succumbing to his sadly.

However, our mother still thinks she is fine. Except that time has no length, memory has no recall and generally conversations are hard.

Last month I was trying to think of tasks that Mother could do. She use to be a beautiful crocheter. So I thought I would see in the muscle memory, brain memory or automaticity would enable her to complete the task of making granny squares.

So, with hook and yarn in hand, Mother set to and produced the most amazing crocheted squares. I have taken these squares and turned them into beach hats and beach bags.

Whilst mother doesn’t remember making them, at the time of completing one (at a time) it has given her a great sense of achievement and pride. I’m so proud of her and her achievements.
