It's been awhile since we've had a fresh load of proteas in, but these were worth the wait. This gorgeous batch of proteas, leucadendrons and serruria are captivating us with their magnificent colours, forms and textures...and spectacular flowers to come. These sun-lovers enjoy good drainage, mainly prefer sandy soils and will give generously in the form of cut flowers. If you'd like to grow one in a pot, ask us about our native potting mix.

One of the great things about gardening is you don't have to be artistic to create something beautiful! Just a little imagination goes a long way. We love walking through neighbourhoods (especially Berry's, of course) and checking out what people do in their gardens--it's often a reflection of who they are, and it's a great way to get ideas for your own garden.

From tiny living stones to towering statement plants, this week's succulent bench feels a bit like a tiny botanical planetarium, replete with strange shapes, silvery tones and plants that don't quite look real.  A new load of rare cactus has arrived, along with some pleiospilos (split rocks) and string of pearls. It's been wet, but have you been out to enjoy your garden anyway? Getting outside to appreciate the vibrant colours, the sparkling droplets on leaves, and the smell of fresh rain can lift your spirits. 

As for jobs, you can check for snails and slugs, clean your tools, or tidy up undercover areas. Most weather is good gardening weather. 😊☔

This weekend, why not use texture, form and flowers to add interest to your garden? We have ideas, and they're all looking great now...

🌿Begonias give easy impact by adding bold, colourful foliage to shaded areas.

🌼Abutilons' lantern flowers will add soft colour and movement in the ground or pots.

🪷Native everlastings' long-lasting blooms will keep your garden looking vibrant and attract pollinators.

🐦Grafted grevilleas make great focal points and attract birds with their fine, feathery leaves and beautiful flowers, but they're tough and low-maintenance.

So get creative, enjoy your garden, and enjoy your weekend!

Isn't it nice to just sit back and enjoy the garden, watching nature do its work? This busy bee working around the flowering tree dahlia in the garden centre caught our attention this week. Thank you, little bee, for your moment of peace and wonder.
