SSAA FEEDBACK TO SUPPRESSORS POLICY TOPIC

The federal government is undertaking consultation with shooting organisations and other stakeholders regarding the National Fi****ms Register. As part of this, they asked SSAA our position on suppressors (moderators). The media would have you believe the Hollywood fantasies about moderators that somehow they’re able to magically make a firearm go silent. Unsurprisingly, this is far from the truth.

The United Kingdom recently freed up suppressors for use by hunters and other shooters, and they’ve been used without incident in New Zealand for years.

The fi****ms amnesty is always available, give us a call to discuss.

🤝 We’re holding a fi****ms amnesty drive across the state this weekend (22-23 March) for people to surrender illegal or unwanted fi****ms, firearm parts, ammunition, or gel blasters that have the appearance of a firearm.

ℹ️ Tasmania has a permanent fi****ms amnesty, which means you can surrender fi****ms and firearm items at any time without fear of being prosecuted for the possession.

👮‍♂️ If you have items to surrender, come to the mobile amnesty drive - transport them safely and legally in your vehicle, leave them in your vehicle and walk up and speak to officers who will safely retrieve the items.
