Hello Gorgeous...
Long Post - Looking for the right person for this role ..
Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who has emailed through their resume and cover letter. We have received an overwhelming amount of interest in this role, and we are incredibly grateful.
We are going to take a little time to read through every application carefully because it is really important to us that we find someone who understands who we are, what we are building and will fit beautifully into our little flower family.
We are more than just a business here — we are family. 🤍
At this stage, the role is looking like Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, working across our 8-acre flower farm, in the flower fields and in our floristry studio.
We also want to be really clear about what this role involves.
This is not a home gardener's job, and it's definitely not a come-and-play-with-pretty-flowers job.
Our farm is 8 acres of uneven land, so you need to be physically fit and prepared for hard, hands-on work.
Flowers don't wait for us. They need to be picked before the heat of the day or before the rain, which means there will be 7am starts.
Yes, it can be cold.
Yes, it can be muddy.
And yes... you will definitely have to pull out weeds! 😂🌱
There are times when we have more than 20,000 plants to get into the ground, and this year we are growing even more varieties and a lot more flowers.
We need someone who can work quickly and efficiently, follow instructions, use their initiative and confidently work on their own when required.
You must also have a current driver's licence and be confident and comfortable driving a van, as deliveries, collections and wedding/event work will sometimes be part of the role.
You will also need to be comfortable using emails and helping with the administration side of our business.
Something important to understand is that our flowers don't magically arrive in our studio already picked, cleaned and ready for us to create with.
Before we can start our orders, we have to grow them, pick them, cut them, clean them, bunch them and prepare them.
Sometimes the flowers have to come first — and then we head into the studio and start our floristry orders.
But what you get in return is a pretty amazing opportunity.
No floristry or flower-farming experience is necessary because we are willing to teach the right person.
You will have the opportunity to learn:
🌸 Floristry from the beginning
🌸 Wedding & event floristry and styling
🌸 Flower farming and harvesting
🌸 Planting and caring for flowers
🌸 Planting schedules and planning crops
🌸 Picking, bunching and preparing flowers
🌸 Online orders, emails and enquiries
🌸 Deliveries and wedding/event setup
🌸 The day-to-day running of a flower farm and floristry business
You will experience the whole journey of a flower — from planting it in the ground and watching it grow, to harvesting it from our fields and finally creating something beautiful with it for a customer, wedding or event.
We can teach you the skills. What we can't teach is attitude, reliability, a strong work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn.
For the right person, this isn't just another job. It's an opportunity to learn, grow and become part of what we are building here.
Please give us a little moment while we take the time to go through all of your beautiful applications. We will be in contact with the successful candidates by the end of next week.
Thank you again for wanting to be part of our little flower family and our Life Amongst Flowers journey.
Van xx
