IRATA LEVELS OF QUALIFICATION EXPLAINED IN A NUTSHELL
Hey there! If you're keen on becoming a rope access pro, IRATA has got you covered with three levels of technical grades. Think of it like leveling up in a video game, but in the real world of rope access! Let’s break it down:
LEVEL 1: THE ROOKIE STAGE
• As a Level 1 Technician, you're starting your exciting journey. You'll be doing cool rope access tasks, but under the watchful eye of a Level 3 supervisor.
• You’ll learn to follow all the safety procedures (super important!) and check your equipment before you start (also super important!).
• You get to help with setting things up and even perform a basic rescue. How cool is that?
• Remember, when you're training for Level 1, you're considered a trainee.
LEVEL 2: THE EXPERIENCED ADVENTURER
• Now you’re getting the hang of it! As a Level 2, you're the experienced one, doing more complex tasks.
• You’ll know everything a Level 1 does, plus some extra tricks like fancy rigging and complex rescues.
• You'll also learn how to set up hauling systems. It’s like leveling up your skills!
LEVEL 3: THE ROPE ACCESS JEDI
• Welcome to the top! As a Level 3, you're not just experienced – you're the go-to person.
• You’ll need to know all the stuff from Levels 1 and 2, and then some.
• You're the brain behind the operations, understanding all the safety stuff and the technical know-how.
• Bonus: You get to be a safety supervisor if you want. How awesome to lead the team!
ARE YOU CUT OUT FOR THIS?
• Rope access isn’t just a job, it's an adventure. You need to be fit, have a good head for heights, and most importantly, be responsible and self-reliant.
• Remember, these jobs can be in remote places, so being sensible and responsible is key.
• If you're not sure if this is for you, no problem! Arrange a chat with our IRATA trainer at Atlas Access to see if it's a good fit.
BEFORE YOU START TRAINING
• You've got to be at least 18 years old.
• Being physically fit is a must. You need to be strong, agile, and able to handle whatever the weather throws at you.
• If you have any medical conditions, you need to let the trainers know. Safety first!
• It’s a good idea to get a medical check-up before you start, and keep getting them regularly.
• If you're on medication for a condition, just bring a doctor’s note to show you're good to go.
THINKING OF MOVING UP A LEVEL?
• Make sure you're totally comfy with your current level before you think about leveling up.
• You’ll need to show you’ve got the hours and experience logged in your trusty logbook.
• Lost your logbook? No sweat, you can get a replacement sorted out, just click here: LogBooks
TRAINING AND RE-CERTIFICATION STUFF
• Training’s done by IRATA pros. You’ll be learning from the best!
• If you're coming back for more training after a break, it shouldn't be longer than 60 days. Otherwise, you’ll need to do a full training course again.
• Make sure you keep all your training info handy, like course handouts and safety bulletins.
LEVELING UP OR RENEWING YOUR CERTIFICATION
• Whether you’re going from Level 1 to 2, or 2 to 3, or just renewing your current level, you need to have your skills and knowledge up to date.
• If your certification’s expired, don’t worry – there’s a way to get back on track.
Isn’t it exciting? Each level brings new skills, more knowledge, and awesome responsibilities. If you’re up for this adventure, IRATA’s levels will help guide your way to becoming a rope access superstar!
Remember, always stay safe, keep learning, and have fun up there! 🧗♂️🌟
