Bringing my own glass bottle to buy fresh orange juice... and it actually worked. 🍊💚

I'll be honest though—I felt a little self-conscious at first. It almost felt like I was doing something I wasn't supposed to, even though I was simply trying to reduce waste.

Maybe that's because it's still not something we see every day.

The good news? It gets easier. Every time I bring my own container, it feels a little more normal.

A few things I learnt:
🌿 Some shops are completely happy to fill your container.
🌿 Others just need a quick explanation.
🌿 And yes, I still forget my containers sometimes—it happens!

If you've been thinking about trying this for Plastic Free July, start with just one item. You don't have to change your whole shop overnight. One small swap is enough to get started.

Maybe one day bringing our own bottles and jars will feel completely normal. Until then, I'll keep trying—and I hope you'll join me. 💚

🍊 Can you actually buy orange juice without plastic?

I've always wondered if bringing my own bottle to the markets would work, so today I'm putting it to the test.

Armed with a glass bottle and good intentions, I'm heading to my local market to see if I can skip the plastic and still enjoy fresh orange juice.

Will the vendors be happy to fill my bottle?
Will I walk away plastic-free?
Or will this experiment fail completely?

👀 Find out in Part 2.

11 bottles. Per person. Per year. Just for shampoo.

I switched to a shampoo bar a while back and haven't looked back. It takes about a week to adjust (your hair might feel different at first while it recalibrates) but once it does, it's genuinely better.

Less waste. Less cost over time. And no plastic bottle rolling around your shower. 🌿

This one surprised me too when I first found out.

Most conventional teabags are heat-sealed with a thin layer of plastic, which means every cup of tea comes with microplastics. Not exactly what you're going for when you're trying to wind down.

Loose leaf tea + a reusable cotton tea bag. Same ritual, no plastic. 🌿

100% Cotton Tea Bags are available at Be Gaia.

Enjoy 30% OFF storewide, for the entire month of July 😊

A small change that makes a big difference.

Whenever possible, choose loose fruit and veggies instead of pre-packaged produce. Every plastic bag you don't take is one less piece of plastic entering our world.

It doesn't have to be perfect—just better than yesterday 🌿

12 plastic bottles a year. From hand soap alone!!!!

A soap bar lasts just as long, works just as well, and comes in either no packaging or paper packaging. That's it. That's the swap.

Find yours at begaia.com.au 🌿

Enjoy 30% OFF Storewide

For the entire month of July… or until stocks last! 😅
