Here is my very first completed baby blanket using my 4" pin loom... This was a real labour of love to make as it's for my neighbour who is due with their second bub, a boy, next month.
There are 100 4" squares, every pattern square is different - approx 80. It took over 50hrs to complete and there were over 300 ends to weave in - next time I will be smarter and do them while still on the loom and mark the finish corner with a piece of scrap yarn I can just pull out once they are connected... wish I had thought of that beforehand... lol
Yarn used was 80% acrylic 20% wool for the squares, and 50% wool 50% acrylic for the crochet joining and border.
I'll put a link to the youtube video that showed me how to do the simple yet beautiful crochet join.

What have I been up to lately? Winding 336" (8.4m) warp, 15" wide, using crochet cottons onto a loom at the VAC - Vancouver Arts Centre. I'm weaving a length of material with the intention to sew a long top or dress... That won't be decided until its sew time.

I've been very busy studying Cert ll in Fashion, Design and Technology at Tafe and... they were having a clean out of collars... soooooo... someone suggested a challenge and this is what I have made, no pattern, just made up as I went. I may change the collar into a hood but I'm happy with it as is for now.

Boro Inspired Denim Jacket...
I've just completed my first official upcycle based on Japanese Boro. I had heaps of denim left over from other projects so my only spend was for the jacket.
The lightweight denim jacket had a panel sewn on the back when I bought it from the op shop that just didn't scream "me", so after taking to it with an unpicker, the jacket was the perfect blank canvas for this project.
I'm soooooo happy with the final result and it's definitely ME now! :)

Stash Busting Baby Blanket...

I've been working on using up some of my 'stash' with this cotton based baby blanket. Intentionally planning to make a random warp changing colour as I felt inclined and implementing the same strategy for the weft as I wove paid off... it usually does... I am very happy with the finished blanket indeed!

A project that is enabling me to spend a lot of time in front of my neglected overlocker... Bunting! This is a community project initiated by a Emma from the Vancouver Arts Centre. She wants to create the longest bunting, which will be used for events by the VAC and the City of Albany.

Jennie from my weaving group told me about it on the first day back to the weaving room since lockdown... saying, "If I cut them out, you can sew them." Sure thing I said agreeing to sewing them up. We grabbed some of the more interesting sheets and doona cover stash from the weavers room and set to work.

Little did I know just how many triangles Jennie would cut out from each piece of material... and how many I would then be sewing... the photo's below show the start of the project... which once I started sewing I really got into a rhythm and think I may just make more for myself when this project is done!

Finally finished off a 'corner to corner' crochet blanket a week or so ago and have donated it to Wheelchair Blankets for Kids. Here's hoping that one of them will really enjoy the bright and lively colours!

Happily finished spinning some roving of Wensleydale White Combed Tops found at a local op-shop last year. I'm planning on dyeing it then making a beanie or bag as it is not as soft as I would like to have against my skin...
