It’s International Day of Awareness of Food Loss & Waste! 🥗

Every year, the world wastes over 1 billion tonnes of food! while millions go hungry. Much of this ends up in landfill, where it produces methane, a greenhouse gas 80x more harmful than CO₂. (UNEP, 2023)

But here’s the good news: small actions at home make a big difference. 🌱
✔ Composting your food scraps keeps waste out of landfill
✔ Using BioBag caddy liners makes it easier and cleaner
✔ That waste turns into valuable compost that nourishes the soil

A simple switch in your kitchen helps tackle a global problem.

Every kitchen has scraps. The question is: trash 🗑️ or treasure 🌱?

Do they end up in the bin… or do they get a second life in compost?

At BioBag, we believe food waste is too valuable to waste. With the right tools, those peels and shells can nourish gardens, farms, and communities.

💬 Tell us below, what’s one food scrap you always toss into your compost bin?

Every year, millions of plastic bags end up in landfill and waterways, breaking down into microplastics that never disappear.

According to the United Nations, around 8 million tonnes of plastic leak into the ocean annually, threatening wildlife and our food chain. (UNEP)

That’s why we created BioBag.
✔ Certified compostable
✔ Leaves behind healthy compost, not plastic pollution

It’s a simple swap that helps keep waste out of landfill and gives back to the soil that feeds us. 🌱

It starts with the soil. 🌱

Every seed planted, every bag composted, every small choice we make adds up to something bigger. Farmers know this better than anyone, what you put into the earth is what you get back.

When we choose compostable, we’re not just reducing waste. We’re feeding the ground that feeds us, and shaping a future where the planet thrives. 🌍✨

Together, we can grow more than food, we can grow change.

You’ve probably seen bags labeled “biodegradable” and thought they were eco-friendly… but here’s the truth: most of them just break into tiny plastic fragments that never really go away. Those microplastics end up in our soil, our water and even in the food we eat.

That’s why compostable matters.

BioBags don’t just disappear, they actually turn into rich, healthy soil when composted properly. No toxins. No plastic. Just nutrients going back into the earth where they belong.

It’s a simple switch that makes a real difference for your home, your garden, and the planet. 🌍

The best end of life option for a bag

We live in an era when plastic is a global problem of incredible proportions and we also live in an era of convenience. BioBags are made from a variety of natural polymers including corn and their strength is improving all the time with emerging technology.

Compostable is the best end of life option for a bin liner, ziplock bag, dog poo bag or carry bag because it breaks down into organic matter and can be returned to the earth via compost without toxic residues.

We are now supplying a long list of shops and online stores and the demand is increasing because our customers want to make greener choices and do their bit for the environment.

Be careful though, as some bags labelled ‘green and degradable’ and ‘biodegradable’ can be misleading - some are just plastic bags with chemicals added so they break down faster. Compostable bags must be certified by Australian Standards like BioBags are.
