Hi all, this bookshop was started by two people; those two people are joyfully getting married next Sunday, 17th May. We would like to stream the wedding for family and all to see, and we just require a few more subscribers to be allowed to stream, so we would be grateful if as many of you could subscribe. Our wedding will be part of a Traditional Dominican Rite Mass, as we are Dominican Tertiaries. Link in comments

Today, we as Christians commence the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday. You may not know that this year Ash Wednesday falls on the feast of St Bernadette. This date is a major celebration at Lourdes, focusing on Bernadette's humility, obedience, and the messages of prayer and penance.

As such, today HIPPO invites you to immerse yourself in the life of St Bernadette with our new release (linked below). This book offers a meticulously researched and deeply moving account of the life of St. Bernadette.

We hope that in sharing this extraordinary book, that it will encourage a recommitment to prayer, meditation on the rosary and fulfilment of the sincere request of Our Lady of Lourdes: 'Penance, penance, penance.'

Candlemas, celebrated on February 2nd marks the 40th day of Christmas (the Presentation of Jesus), where in the Catholic tradition, candles are blessed for the coming year to symbolize Jesus as the "Light of the World".

Recently we've been experimenting with making some of our own beeswax candles!!🕯

If you would like to purchase any please let us know. The cost is $2 per candle or $7 for 4. This Sunday you can find us at 9:15am mass at Holy Name, Payneham and then 5:30pm mass at Our Lady of the Rosary, Prospect. We'll have some stock on hand (including a few books) 🕯 📚 Feel free to catch us after either mass.

Today we celebrate the feast day of St. Teresa of Avila, aka St. Teresa of Jesus and one of the great spiritual writers of the Church.

Having recently visited Avila, I came to discover just how incredible this saint is and was inspired by the waves she made in reforming the Carmelite Order and the beauty of her writings.

HIPPO is proud to announce that we have added her writings to our collection and with more to come!!!
