If anyone is looking for a charter I can recommend Port Hughes Charters. Went out today and they got us on the fish. The captain is very professional and kept us very entertained for the whole day. Got our bag limit and more. He really looks after his customers. Don’t do a lot of charters but this one was in my top 10.👍
There is plenty of fish to be had. My fish filleted went 1.3 kilos so that equates to $100 on just whiting. Support local operators. We want them in the future😊

With boats costing a lot of money and sit in your garage most of the time this is the way to go. A great range of boats and all you have to worry about is catching fish😊

South Australia’s much-treasured snapper fishing experience is at risk of disappearing entirely unless drastic action is taken ahead of the upcoming summer, according to latest scientific information.

🐟The latest snapper science from SARDI, released today, paints a bleak picture of the snapper stocks in South Australian gulfs.

🎣Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone said the latest scientific information shows drastic action will be required from the entire fishing industry to return the snapper fishery to a sustainable stock.

“There has been an 87 per cent decrease in snapper stocks in Gulf St Vincent over the last five years and a 23 per cent decline in the Spencer Gulf,” said Minister Whetstone.

“The former Labor Government failed to make the tough decisions needed to address this problem. They tinkered around the edges and the latest scientific information proves this approach did not work.

“Last December the Marshall Liberal Government implemented eight spatial closures and cut charter boat bag limits as an interim measure to protect snapper stocks.
“Since then, the State Government has been consulting with the commercial, charter and recreational fishing sectors about further snapper restrictions for the upcoming summer.

“This latest scientific information shows we need to implement strong restrictions across all sectors to protect the current snapper stock and enable them to recover.

“The Marshall Liberal Government will take action to ensure snapper are available in the future to recreational, charter and seafood lovers alike.

“The latest science was released today at a joint meeting of the commercial, charter and recreational fishing sectors and a range of management options were considered.

“The State Government will conduct further consultation with the industry and community about possible changes to snapper management before the upcoming summer.”

The new scientific information is based on a snapper egg survey undertaken by SARDI Aquatic Sciences in December 2018.

With the risk of our snapper fishery totally collapsing what are your thoughts of closing the fishery for 5 years to all recreational and professional fisherman? This includes prawn trawlers not being able to trawl in a 5 kilometre radius of ALL wrecks.
