Instagram family a little light reading for the peeps!
What i do everyday does not fit into a neat job description, and it’s hard to sum up in just a few words.
Often others don’t quite understand just how diverse and wide-ranging a Player Development role is.
Recently i was nominated as a finalist in Local Heroes in the community by Westfield Shopping Centre and was asked what the most integral part of my job is, my reply was i’m focused on who walks through the door, this could be anyone from a 4 year old beginner to an elite player who’s looking to get into a elite program, whoever it is i welcome them then i try to figure out the reason behind them coming to me in the first place and from there my skill development instincts kicks in!
Since the messenger article i get asked how do i feel about the nomination and write up, for me it puts a bow on the direction i’m taking the wings academy basketball program!

My under 14s Wings Academy team had a fantastic weekend in Norwood Easter Carnival beating Victorian club Camberwell VC as well as district teams in under 14s division 2, this sums up our journey…..
Life is like a camera focus on what’s important, capture the good times develop from the negative and if things don’t work out you can take another shot, i am so proud of this group and the growth and development they got from Norwood Easter Carnival which was very well organised if i can say so myself!!😂Bring on Nunawading in june! Thx to my manager Sarah who did an amazing job over the weekend keeping us informed of changes to venues and times and to the parents for allowing me to yell at your sons!!! GO WINGS!!!⛹🏻‍♂️⛹🏿⛹️‍♀️⛹🏻‍♂️🦅

Skill vs Will what’s more important?
One of the most overused phrases from coaches is:
"They're out-hustling us!"
We usually hear this when the team is getting dominated on the boards, the opposition is getting most of the loose balls, the other team is transitioning quicker up and down the court on both on Offense and D.
While this sounds like they just want it more," the truth is that it's often a Skill vs Will competitive gap.
I'm sure there are a lots who disagree with but when a player gets in a 50/50 contest who gets in first it's usually the one who reads the situation better and attacked the ball with conviction, whereas the player with less experience "read" the situation and hesitates because of the commitment needed to win the loose ball, and the pain associated with going 100% into the contest.
Coaches call a timeout and scream "they're out-working us!" are usually mistaking a lack of Skill vs lack of Will and trust me i know Skill is important... but it's less important than most people think, it’s about the commitment of putting your body on the line and getting that loose ball, that can be the difference between making a district team or a state team you choose!

It’s normal to get caught up in such an emotional and significant day, be kind to yourself this starts with treating yourself with the same love and kindness you send out to others.
This means not judging yourself harshly when you fall short of your goals and showing yourself patience and compassion on your bad days, we all have them!
Go out and get that box of chocolates have a sip of wine 🍷 and imagine how special tomorrow will be.

Congrats to every single woman and girl in sports this is your day, it’s a day you should embrace how special you are and what a difference you make in the lives of those who look up to you and mentor you thru these challenging times. Seek out that shy girl in the corner who would love to get to know you but is to shy to speak, they are tomorrow’s leaders they just don’t know it yet. As women you strive for equality in a male dominated society who close the door in your face anytime equal pay is mentioned, you deal with this and continue to move forward never being afraid to speak out when it’s warranted for the next generation, even if it’s not you who get that pay rise or CEO job you are paving the way for the next super star watching your every move.
I’m truly blessed to have and academy that allows me to help mould impressionable girls into confident, thriving ambitious young women.

weekly shooting machines sessions are now open for term 1
Where: Shoothq, beverly
Days/Time: Tuesday 4pm-5, Wednesday 6.30-7.30, Thursday 5.30-7.30, Friday 4.30
Programs/ What’s included:
Cost: $40 per person, small group sessions (7 players max) includes shooting machine.
Individual one on one sessions $73 includes court hire, 1/2 hour skill session and half hour shooting machine.
New players signing up can DM or call me and i’ll reserve a spot for you 7 players max per session with new drills implemented weekly.

Instagram peeps Merry Christmas to all i’m forever grateful for the opportunities i have been given and appreciate your confidence in me, it hasn’t been easy as we’ve been presented with many challenges thx to covid19 but we got thru this together and will continue to do so.
I look at where my player development training began to where it is now and i’m very excited about what’s ahead.
Congrats to the over 100 kids who have come thru my wings academy in three years and will participate in district programs all over adelaide in 2022, it doesn’t just happen you have to put in the work.
To my coaches, managers and parents let’s make 2022 a year to remember!
