E ndërsa projektit tonë i erdhi fundi, rrugëtimi i komunitetit të traditës së gjallë në Tropojë sapo ka filluar. And while our project came to an end, the journey of the living tradition community in Tropoja has just begun. The project “Creating Communities of Living Tradition in Tropoja” is implemented by
the Center Competitive Skills (competitiveskills.org), and is funded by the German
government, implemented by GIZ in Albania (SRD Albania), in cooperation with the
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Tourism.
With a timeframe October 2019 - June 2020, the project aims to create a
small but successful model of a “Living Tradition Community” in Tropoja, through
a value chain approach, by developing better integrated and sustainable “local”
value chains, enabling individual producers of handicraft to increase the quality,
innovation and competitiveness of their products, bringing youth closer to tradition
and training them to promote and sell community products, as well as connecting
the community to more lucrative markets.
The uniqueness of the project was the creation of added value through creation
of modern products, adapted to the skills of artisans, created by stylist and
ethnographer Anila Zajmi-Katanolli with completely original and distinct motifs of
the province, and associated with related stories and myths.
The project involved various actors of the value chain: the community of
artisan women of Raja, Cërnica and Bajram Curri, youth, teachers and educational
directorates of Bajram Curri, Has and Kukës, as well as representatives of the
municipal council of Bajram Curri.
This catalogue features approximately 60 products spread over 12 product categories.
