Dakolo stood in front of a mirror casually looking at his recent high school uniform.
He took a deep breath examining himself
If anything he had to look good. He could not afford to look crusty on the first day of school.. A knock interrupted his thoughts.
He remain quiet but his mom kept on knocking.. He marched to the door opening it, he stepped aside letting his mother proceed in
Humbulani: (biting her lower lip) i know you are atill angry and you have every right to be angry..
Dakalo:(frustrated) I'm glad you know that, if you came here to try and justify yourself please do yourself a favour and turn back..
Humbulani :(tearfully) Dee please..she tried to touch him but he stride back
Dakalo:mama please don't not now, your tears don't move me..
They stared at each other for a minute without neither of them saying anything with each second that passes the tension crawl in making it harder for them to be in the same space..
Dakalo: (clearing his throat) please let me know when my driver gets here..
She nodded and proceed walking out but stop her tracks on the door
Humbulani : I'm sorry.. She murmured and walked away he closed his door and sat on tje bed
All the memories came flooding back to his mind stealing his peace, he can still see the pain in his father's eyes, the hopelessness and betrayal.. How hard it was for him to tell him that he had to move to Botswana all because his mother was a harlot..
He still could not believe his own mother was capable of doing such a forbidden act..
She managed to ruin their family and to make matter worse she decided to run like a coward..
Now he had to restart his life. New school, friends and everything..
Minutes later his driver came to drive him to school..
At Hamilton high school
Thendo ramble in the school premises with his friends, the moment they stepped in all eyes were on them as if they are preys.
But who would not look , everyone knew who they were, most popular and attractive bad boys..
On the other side of school bonolo stared at thendo with jealousy and anger she did not like how all the other girls were staring at her man..
She casually made her way to him swinging her hips from side to side grabbing people's attention..
Thendo smiled and embraced her
Bee:(smiling) i miss you so much.. She said shyly..
Thendo:me too babe it's just a shame i couldn't not spend time with you during festival season..
Bee: yes but it's understandable so tell me how was Singapore..
Thendo: uhm i will tell you all about it later on today let me catch up with the boys..
He planted a kiss on her forehead and quickly made his way to his friends that where waiting for him on the side..
Teekay: tell me again why you are still with her?
Thendo:I've not found a good time to break it off with her, that girl is so boring she has zero personality and she's annoying( They all cracked up laughing) she only got this far with me because she's beautiful.
The school bell rang alerting everyone to go to their class..
Thendo sat at the back corner of the class uninterested, somehow he was good in science but he despise it..
Mrs mlongo welcomed back the student and congratulating them on making it to matric.. The students clapped hands feeling proud of themselves.. Just as she was about to mark down the class register Dakalo walked in and all eyes shifted on him..
Thendo gaze at him and their eyes met
Mrs mlongo: (smiling) hello you must be our new student from mpumalanga right??
Dakalo:(calmly) yes..
Mrs mlongo: welcome to Hamilton high my boy, I'm your science teacher..
Dakalo nodded with his hand in his trousers, he could feel his heart pounding so loud he did not like the attention and he was bad with crowd
Mrs mlongo:(clearing her throat) please take a sit right over there..
She pointed at the desk that was in front of Thendo..
Dakalo anxiously made his way to his assigned desk..
He took a deep breath taking a sit..
The class went by so quickly in no time it was lunch time..
Everyone went out of the class but dakalo remained seated.. In no time Zinhle walked in making her way to him..
Zinhle : (extending her hand to him) hi I'm Zinhle but you can call me zee.. Dakalo looked at her from head to toe and she was actually cute he thought to himself.. He extended his hand to hers and they handshake briefly..
Dakalo:can i help you with something??.. He said coldly
Zee:uhm nop i just thought i should come and introduce myself and since you are new i thought you could need a friend..
Dakalo :i have enough friends zee..she embarrassingly nodded moving back..
Dakalo:but i could use a girl friend... He said gazing in her eyes..
Zee:(taken back) excuse me?? A girlfriend??
Dakalo :yes zee i need a friend who is a girl is there a problem??
Zee: no there's no problem.. She smiled awkwardly and brisk away running against thendo by the door..
Thendo:( irritated) watch where your going..
She ran out feeling embarrassed..
Thendo clicked his tongue and his eyes met Dakalo's eyes...
Just as he was about to speak to him his friends came behind him chatting loudly he shifted his attention from him to them..
Dakalo quietly absorbed them. there was no introduction that needed to be done just by staring at them he could tell that they were the popular kids and if he wanted to survive he needed to be friend them...
One thing he vowed not to fail in was to blend in with the cool kids..
Back home humbelani sat on the couch drinking a glass of dry wine speaking on the phone with her mom..
Humbulani :mom I've never seen him this angry..
Her:i can't believe he back chat you, my grandson is humble..
Humbulani :but i can't blame him i literally destroyed our family..
Her: that is another thing I'm highly disappointed in you but it is done now you need to focus on building your home again get your husband back..
Humbulani :mama phathutshedzo does not want to hear me out, him going to Botswana shows he does not want to fix things and it's not gonna be easy to fix this i betrayed my husband..
Her :yeah but don't lose hope he has not filed for divorce which shows he will be back for you..
Humbulani :mama i also think i should also tell him the truth about Dakalo..
Her :eey be warned we agreed as a family that we will die with that secret, if you tell him forget about him taking you back and be prepared to lose your son forever...
