POPI Act prohibits members of Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, and or any social media Groups from sharing personal information of other members without permission. From 1 July 2021 it is a criminal offense to do so.
In terms of the POPI Act, the following Disclaimer is shared, as with all Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram or any social media Groups, as they need to adhere to the Act from 1 July 2021.
POPI refers to the Protection of Personal Information Act No. 4 of 2013, which seeks to regulate the processing of personal information.
It applies to anyone keeping records relating to the personal information of an individual or organization.
Compliance demands identifying personal information and taking reasonable measures to protect the data.
As we all know the compliance due date is today, 30 June 2021.
This deadline brings a few changes.
One of these changes is that the administrators will be required to obtain your consent for being part of this Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram or any social media group. As such, you are herewith notified that you are entitled to refuse such consent and you may exercise such a right by leaving this group.
Should you elect to remain in this group, it will be accepted that you have consented to being a part of this group and to your personal information (being your cell phone number and name) being noticeable to any person and In the Instance that you upload an Employment application in response to any of the vacancies we advertise you accept and consent that such applications (CV, Certifications, and Supporting documents) can be shared with third parties that relate directly to employment opportunities.
