"Behind every perfect mask, there is a hidden face that we may never see. The same goes for people - they may show us one version of themselves but deep down, they could be someone completely different. This is especially true when it comes to relationships and betrayal.
The Two Faced Masked - sounds like the title of a thrilling novel, doesn't it? Well, unfortunately, it's a reality for many who have experienced betrayal at the hands of their partners. We often trust our loved ones blindly and put them on pedestals only to realize later on that they were never who we thought they were.
Betrayal can come in various forms - cheating, lying, manipulating or even gaslighting. And while each one hurts in its own way, what makes it worse is realizing that the person you trusted was actually wearing a mask all along.
But how do we protect ourselves from falling for these two-faced individuals? The answer lies in truly knowing our partner before diving headfirst into a relationship.
Take your time getting to know someone before committing to them fully. Observe their actions rather than just listening to their words because actions always speak louder than words. Pay attention to red flags and don't ignore them thinking things will change once you're together.
And if unfortunately you do find yourself betrayed by someone close to you, remember this: healing after betrayal takes time but forgiveness isn't necessary. It's okay if you choose not to forgive or forget because self-preservation should always be your top priority.
Moreover, dealing with someone with narcissistic tendencies can make healing after betrayal even more difficult. Narcissists are masters at manipulation and often use gaslighting techniques to make their victims question their own sanity.
If you suspect your partner might be narcissistic or if you've dealt with one before then here are some tips:
1) Don't engage in arguments or try to reason with them as this will only escalate the situation.
2) Set boundaries and stick to them. Narcissists will push your limits but it's important to stand firm.
3) Seek support from trusted friends and family who can provide a safe space for you to process your emotions.
4) Most importantly, prioritize your own well-being above all else.
Betrayal may leave us feeling broken and vulnerable but it also teaches us valuable lessons about trust, self-love, and resilience. So let's use these experiences as opportunities for growth rather than allowing them to define us.
