Cape Carp Hunters

Cape Carp Hunters This page is dedicated to Carp fishing in the Western Cape, if you have caught a beautiful specimen recently feel free to post your pictures!

We dont care if its big or small, as long as its a Carp! Please respect our beautiful fish and the habitats they live in. And be a sport, take proper care of the fish when on the bank and release them safely - its the only way to ensure we get to catch monster specimens in the future!!!!!!

Update time, I have unfortunately been dealing with quite a bit of medical issues in the last few months. I'm healing slowly but surely, when I'm back on my feet I will continue my fishing pursuit.
Good news though, I acquired access to a range of family owned farms with ancient waters on them, hold thumbs for me please πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Very interesting preparation video, I reckon I'm going to dump the boilies and go all natural this spring. Anyone else out there that prefers natural baits over the normal options?

As I wait for October to roll in I've been on a bit of a refresher concerning all things carpy. I've decided to share whatever has helped me so far to get a better understanding of what we are doing and how to do it better.
I personally don't carry carp cradles and tripods around and use a simpler setup but the fish safety tips are very useful to keep looking into over the years as we learn more.

Here's how to handle a carp out of the water, how to hold it safely for the camera and how to treat its wounds and return it safely to the lake. βœ… Watch next...

I remember mono hairs being very fiddly, I tried tying this at home this weekend using a small heli bead instead and it really does make the hooking effect more aggressive!

Time to get this page going again. I think a little explanation is needed as well. This page was initially created purely out of my love for specimen fishing. It was supposed to be casual thing and I would post as I fished. But then 2020 happened and I lost my business which meant no more fishing - it gets expensive when you become obsessed.
Now in 2023 I see this page keeps growing and I'm feeling a bit guilty.
I'm gearing up to hit the water soon and I will be posting some more vids of guys I follow to hopefully help a few guys and girls dealing with not landing any big fish.
I'm no expert either! I'm just head over heels in love with landing big carp!

Caught this beauty yesterday, strongest fighting fish I felt so far. Weighed in at 11kgs but felt like a lot more!
