BIG NEWS — BSomebodySA is now officially powered by Freshmark Systems!🌱

Five years of building this business from the ground up — and if you know me, you know the paperwork almost finished me. 😅 Invoices, delivery notes, availability lists, more invoices... piles and piles of paper just to move produce from a farm to a table. It was a lot. It was too much.

Not anymore.

We are now proud Brand Ambassadors for Freshmark Systems — and if you live in South Africa and you have ever bought fresh produce anywhere — at ShopRite, Checkers, a fresh produce market, a fruit & veg store, the Cape Town Market — Freshmark Systems has been involved. They have been at the heart of South Africa's fresh produce industry for over 37 years. 🇿🇦🥬

Everything is now fully automated. Every delivery note, every invoice, every availability list — all tracked digitally from the moment produce leaves the farm all the way until it reaches you, the customer. No more lost paperwork. No more chasing documents. No more almost losing my mind. 😂

We can now track everything, manage everything, and serve our farmers and customers better than ever before. This is what it looks like when technology truly works for the small-scale farmer.

From farm to table — Freshmark Systems is Making IT Happen. And we are proud to be part of that story. 🙏

We are so grateful. And we are just getting started.

🌱 5 years in and we are JUST getting started.
When I started BSomebodySA, the mission was simple — make sure the small-scale farmer has a seat at the table. Five years later, not only are we fighting for market access for our farmers, but we are now proud Brand Ambassadors for Freshmark Systems. 🙌
Now if you've ever bought fresh produce at ShopRite or Checkers — you've already been part of the Freshmark story. They are the company behind the scenes procuring and moving that fresh produce to those shelves, and they've been doing it since before I was born.
And now? We represent them. 🥬
This is not just a milestone for me. This is proof that when you show up consistently for your community, the right doors open. To every farmer we have worked with, every market we have fought to access — this one is for you.
The best is truly yet to come. 🙏

Taking the guesswork out of crop production

Balancing a short- and a long-term payoff in crop farming requires careful consideration of inputs. Johann Pistorius, who farms maize and soya bean in the Nigel area, spoke to Lindi Botha about how he doubled his yield by reducing his inputs.

Molweni Farmily and Happy Monday❤

Ubuntu is an African philosophy that represents the core of human compassion. It emphasizes the interconnectedness and interdependence of all people. At Bsomebody we have applied this in our culture to foster teamwork, collaboration, and social impact.

With the ever-growing demand for sustainable and locally-sourced produce,Bsomebody works closely with farmers  and  the community to ensure that they meet the needs of their consumers while also preserving the environment for future generations. Ubuntu's emphasis on collaboration, sharing, and communal responsibility provides a valuable framework for farmers to achieve these goals.

What actions are you intentional about  with regards to preserving the environment for future generations?

There is a Xhosa phrase that goes ‘umntu ngumntu ngabantu’ which when loosely translated into English, it means “ a human being is a human because of other beings”. It thus conveys the “oneness”, unity and progress only by being neighbourly and being part of the collective.

We invite you to join us in doing this and help us create and maintain a sustainable food production system that benefits all of humanity. Every month we go to the farms in Khayelitsha to volunteer our time, seedlings and compost thus helping our farmers maintain their production schedule

As a foodie I completely believe that food is the door to a persons heart. Our B Somebody with Love program focusses on ensuring that our urban farmers are in constant production of nutritious veggies and we figured out that by helping them with simple resources such as seedlings, compost and volunteers they can continue to grow their businesses while helping us feed our nation.

Thus far we have planted in January alone we have planted:

138 broccoli’s heads
175 gem lettuce heads
96 red cabbage heads

Thank you to and for helping us in planting these, it was so much fun🧑🏽‍🌾☺️

I just love how our food is creating the positive impact we need!

On that note I hope you have an amazingly beautiful day farmily

Many hands make the work light 💕

Every moth we make sure to go to our farmers and lend a helping hand. To us lending a helping hand is helping them with resources and access to the market so that they can grow their business in a sustainable way. This is us after a successful day of planting some brinjal and harvesting some lettuce for Mama Leticia☺️

We love what we do❤️

I hope you have an amazing and productive week and remember to B Somebody with Love
