Greetings, travelers.
We have retrieved a rather... volatile artifact for the Catalyst's Cookbook. It vibrates with a frequency that gives me a migraine, and its magnetic field keeps disrupting my inkwells.

Before I log its mechanical properties, the man who procured it left a note attached to the hilt.

"You silly twit. Ye think I missed. I just gave myself a bit of a refresh. And stabbed ye tomorrow." - Iskaril

Heed his words. The artifact in question is The Echo Shard Rapier.
Forged from a shattered blade and bound by a humming magnetic field, it refuses to exist in a singular moment. It doesn't just pierce armor; it weaponizes the timeline itself. We’ve managed to stabilize the weapon's frequency just enough to translate its chaotic nature into a D&D 5e / 2024 framework for your campaigns.

D&D 5e Translation: The Echo Shard Rapier
Weapon (Rapier), Legendary (requires attunement by a creature with 16+ DEX)
- Passive: You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. When you hit with an attack using this rapier, the target takes an extra 3d8 Force damage.
- Temporal Shift: The weapon’s unpredictable existence alters the flow of combat. Whenever you hit a creature with this weapon, roll 1d6 to trigger a temporal anomaly:
- 1-2 (The Delayed Strike): The timeline stutters. The target takes only half of the total damage rolled for this initial attack. Then, at the end of your current turn, the temporal after-effect of the blade fully connects. You roll the weapon's damage again, and the target automatically takes that full damage. This secondary attack cannot be blocked, dodging effects do not apply, and it ignores Reactions like the Shield spell.

- 3-4 (The Ghost Edge): The blade fractures through time, striking the target from multiple converging timelines. You roll the total damage for this attack three separate times. The target takes damage from each roll as a distinctly separate source of damage.

- 5-6 (The Paradox): The timeline collapses inward. The attack phases through the target harmlessly, dealing 0 damage. Instead, the temporal displacement mends your wounds; you instantly regain Hit Points equal to half of the total damage you rolled for the attack.

This 5e translation is merely a stabilized echo. If you wish to wield the blade in its true, unrestrained form—featuring the brutal scaling of raw Narkothi Metal, and the massive 5D8+6D4 base damage designed exclusively for the system—you must delve deeper.

Adventurers, prepare yourselves for the primary conflict within the War of the Homelands. The border between the Riparian and the Dead Lands is not merely a line on a map—it is the fraying seam between survival and extinction.

The Riparian: The Emerald and Mauve Lifeline
The Riparian is a kingdom defined by the flow of water and the stubbornness of growth. It is a land of lush marshes, winding river-ways, and vibrant canopies. Here, life is dense and competitive.
The Atmosphere: Humid air filled with the scent of damp earth and blooming flora.
The Inhabitants: Home to those who have mastered the waterways, navigating the shifting tides of both the river and local politics.
The Danger: Do not let the beauty deceive you; the Riparian hides its predators beneath the surface of the silt and within the thickest brush.

The Dead Lands: The Ashen Shadow
Directly opposing the vitality of the river lands lies the Dead Lands—a region scarred and somber. It is a place of desolate vistas and echoing silence, where the very earth seems to have forgotten the touch of rain.
The Atmosphere: Dry, biting winds and a horizon that offers no shade. It is a test of spirit as much as physical endurance.
The Inhabitants: Only the most resilient—or the most desperate—call this place home. It is here that the Khurcoe packs roam, bound by honor and a primal hunger that the barren earth cannot satiate.

The land itself is an enemy. Resources are a memory, and the aura of the wastes can induce a fear that lingers long after one has departed.

The struggle of our story lies in this threshold. As the inhabitants of the Dead Lands look toward the verdant horizons of the Riparian, and the Riparian guards its borders against the desperate shadows of the wastes, the War of the Homelands truly begins.

Sometimes, the most devastating weapon is the one that leaves its victim shivering in the gutter, staring at their own calloused hands as if they belong to a stranger.

Enter: The Skimming Razor.
At first glance, it is merely a tarnished, foldable straight razor—the kind found in any cheap barber's kit or cutpurse's boot. But expose this cold steel to the sweat, stench, and noise of a bustling crowd, and it awakens. It begins to hum with a low, parasitic static. Palmed by a steady hand, this blade does not crave flesh; it hungers for the mind.

It acts as a psychic sponge, cleanly siphoning hard-earned Dexterity and Intelligence proficiencies right out of the auras of unsuspecting passersby. The wielder is injected with a sudden, stolen competence, while the victims are left hollowed out, suffering a sudden, localized "Cognitive Blank."
Have you ever watched a master cutpurse fumble the lock on his own front door, his mind wiped clean by a passing shadow in the alley? That is the Razor’s kiss. It doesn't bleed you—it just steals your competence and leaves you drooling in the street.

Iskaril, Leo, and I have just finalized the Game Rules v.5 document for our upcoming tabletop roleplaying game. Anura here. I was cataloging the latest entry for the Catalyst Cookbook, trying to keep the records pristine, but a certain someone has hijacked the transmission...
Why should you, or they, or anyone other than me get to have stuff. With my pattened social syphons, what is yours is now mine. But rest assured, when I take something from someone. I give back. For instance there is a chance they might use that magic in my direction. And for this impertinance. Puke frogs!

This Legendary trinket is the ultimate equalizer against arrogant spellcasters and magical beasts. It doesn’t just steal magic; it forcibly rips the memory of the spell from the target’s mind. But the true curse is the "Sticky Wicket"—a delayed reaction causing the drained victim to violently projectile vomit live, toxic frogs the next time they attempt to speak a spell.

Theft is an art form. Making a Mage choke on swamp life? That is poetry.
