GZ 20/40 Helen Lieros - Artist / Mentor/ Gallerist
Helen and her husband, Derek Huggins founded Gallery Delta in Harare in 1975. She is considered one of Zimbabwe’s finest painters and her outstanding mural work in the Orthodox Church in Maputo, Mozambique is a testament to her enormous talent. She has given back to the art world by her mentorship of young Zimbabwean artists for the past 50 years, including Virginia Chihota, Misheck Masamvu, Richard Mudariki, Cosmas Shiridzinomwa, and others who have continued onwards to be successful artists in their own right.

Great Zimbabweans is a personal portrait project featuring portraits and interviews of 40 amazing Zimbabweans from all walks of life. It aims to shine a positive light on Zimbabwean people, their identity and for them to tell their own stories. The project will be available to buy as a limited edition coffee-table book via an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign.

{24/04/20} ‘...while sitting outside on a quiet moment looking at the clouds here in Chiredzi,then something elusively came triggering in my mind thinking of this _Topsy-Turvidom(extreme disorder)/Pandemonium year we are having, I've done this piece for each and every Living organism in this Globe trying to express in a Mystic/Artistic way🙂.

Hopefully the piece will last as long as it can for another generation to learn. 💡here we have *Cumulus clouds!* Technically, this will remind us of this year 2020.’
