Before you hit the water today — read this. 📌

How to match your soft plastic to the water:

🌊 Clear water → natural colors, smaller profiles, lighter line
🟤 Stained water → dark or bright colors, bigger profiles, slower retrieve
❄️ Cold water → downsize everything, slow way down, stay near the bottom
🌡️ Warm water → faster retrieve okay, topwater in low light, match the hatch

I got tired of buying baits that let me down. So I started making my own. 🎣

Wrong sizes. Inconsistent action. Colors that faded after a few trips. I kept spending money on plastics that didn't fish the way I needed them to.

So I learned to pour. Bought the equipment. Made a lot of bad baits before I made good ones. And slowly built ZS Baits from scratch — every bait hand-poured, rigged, and tested on real water before anyone else sees it.

It took longer than I expected. But I haven't second-guessed a bait since.

Sometimes the best gear is the gear you build yourself.

Fishing personality types — which one are you? 😄

🎣 Type A: Shows up at 4 AM. Has a system. Checks the moon phase. Uses hand-poured baits. Keeps notes.

🎣 Type B: Shows up late, grabs whatever's in the tackle box, catches the biggest fish of the day anyway and says nothing.

🎣 Type C: "I'm just here for the peace and quiet." Hasn't caught a fish in 3 trips. Going again this weekend.

🎣 Weekend's almost here. Before you hit the water — remember this.

Match the hatch. And yes, that applies to soft plastics too — not just fly fishing.

If the baitfish in your area are running small and silver, your plastic should match that profile. Size and color matter way more than most anglers give them credit for.

Study your water first. What are the baitfish doing? What size? What color? Then pick your bait to match it.

That's not a tagline — it's the whole reason I started ZS Baits.

I kept second-guessing store-bought plastics. Wrong size. Inconsistent action. Colors that didn't match what I was seeing on the water. So I started pouring my own. Made them exactly how I needed them to perform.
