Currently Recommending: Playing for Keeps by Lainey Davis (2025)🌼

Since we are in the Stanley Cup Finals, the popularity of the Off Campus and Heated Rivalry Series and throw in my husband and I are hockey fans; I am recommending this sports romance about two people - a goalie and a classically trained cellist - who after a wild night in Vegas end up married. What initally might be considered a huge mistake turns out to be the complete opposite.

Give me a sports romance set in Pittsburgh, the fact the hockey player is respectful of his new bride and a chance to run the gamut of emotions and I am all for taking the time to read this story.

When I tell you I’ve read 90% the authors I wrap within a blind date with a book, I am not kidding. I am challenging myself every week to read authors or genres l never considered before being gifted my first blind date with a book. The 10% I haven’t read yet - is because I am seriously too scared. I am trying with the help of one of my book clubs to overcome my fear of reading dark thrillers but more on that in another recommendation.

I sincerely hope the young lady who purchased Lainey Davis’ book enjoyed it as much as I did.

***This book will be available to purchase on Saturday, June 27th at the New Holland craft show. We have unwrapped new and gently loved books for purchase at our outdoor events depending on the weather.🌼

Once Upon A Page participated in a second event at First Saturday in Ephrata, PA. We almost sold out of books yesterday before the rain fell from the sky. Sending a shout out to my husband for all his help.

I was thrilled my niece, Carsyn and fellow reader Sara - one of my first followers on this page visited my stand. Both of these ladies are special to me, one for being the daughter I never had (I have an amazing son) and the other for supporting and being a repeat customer. They both love to read and their energy and excitement while talking about books they’ve read is infectious.

To those that purchased a book at this event, I hope you enjoy reading Emily Henry, Carley Fortune, Kristin Hannah and Taylor Jenkins Reid.

**Once Upon A Page will be participating in the New Holland Art Association’s craft show at the New Holland Park on Saturday, June 27th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. 🌼

The first event of the day was fantastic for Once Upon A Page. We participated in the Oasis Market at Adamstown, PA we met so many readers and new friends.

The Oasis Market had a bus from Royersford visit the market and it was great to meet two women who vacation in Clearwater, FL every year and go to Phillies Spring Training. My husband and I went the same week they did this year and there is nothing better to form a bond over than books and baseball. ⚾️

Sending a huge shoutout to Skylar for being a repeat customer and purchasing her second sports romance. There is nothing that makes me happier than knowing the initial purchase of a blind date with a book from Once Upon A Page Booksellers leads to another one. Skylar, we are sending our congratulations to you for finishing your degree. You are amazing!

We also enjoyed meeting the mother-daughter duo who introduced me to a few new authors and appreciated Once Upon a Page has sugar-free options for the drink packets within our blind dates. If you are diabetic or watching your sugars, we’ve got you!

We hope everyone who made a purchase today at this event enjoys reading Christina Lauren, Jennifer Weiner, Elin Hildebrand, Julie Soto and Harper Woods.

***Your purchase today helped provide a donation to the Welcome Home Initiative for those in Lancaster in Berks Counties. Thank you readers! 🌼

Yesterday, Once Upon A Page spent the day at The Bird-in-Hand Artisan Market and enjoyed meeting other vendors and visitors from New Jersey, Virginia, California and Delaware. It was a beautiful day in spite of extremely heavy wind gusts and needing to wear my winter coat. 🥶

I was literally and figuratively blown away again by how the love of reading and the lasting impact a book message or storyline may have on us - people feel safe to comfortably share their personal experiences and their current trials. I was given multiple gifts being able to discuss with others their battles with cancer and/or celebrating the birth of a child. To those “fighting the fight,” I hope your Blind Date with A Book helps you escape and provides a moment of comfort to you.

Every event this year has helped our page gain new followers. Once Upon A Page is sending a huge shout out to two amazing women for going out of their way to help boost our page. Your beautiful smiles and positive attitudes will carry you far in this life.

I also want to thank Victoria and Lisa for making the drive to Bird-in-Hand to continuously support us and their love of reading. The two of you made my day warm and sunny inspite of the gusty winds.

I hope those that made a purchase enjoy reading books by Emily Rath, B.K Borison, Abby Jimenez and local Philly author K. Iwancio.

***On Saturday, June 6th, Once Upon A Page will be at two events. We will be at the Oasis Market in Adamstown, PA from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and then we will be participating in First Saturday at the Whistlestop in Ephrata, PA from 4:30 to 8:00 pm with help by my husband and support of Stacy Lee Designs. ***🌼

Currently Recommending: My Friends by Fredrik Backman. 🌼 My Friends (2025) is a dual-timeline story focusing on a young woman and her brief encounter with the artist of her favorite painting printed on a postcard and a group of childhood friends. The book explores the meaning of friendship, loyalty, human connection, art and the place we call “home.”

Interwoven in the story are themes of trauma, child abuse, loss and alcoholism but not in a threatening way should these be sensitive topics for you.

I can describe this read as “heart-breaking” yet “heart-warming” and I loved every moment when reading this story. I laughed, I cried and through an interwoven narrative - this book left a lasting impression on me. Its a beautiful read.

***Multiple copies of this book (gently loved) will be available at the Oasis Market in Adamstown, PA on Saturday, June 6th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The entire proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the Welcome Home Initiative to help those in need within Berks and Lancaster Counties. 🌼***
