Set Up Apple Pay & Google Pay

Recently, European banks and credit card issuers have changed how they authorize digital payments, to provide enhanced transaction security. This involves an added step to multi-factor authenticate users before processing a payment.

During peak traffic moments where many people are attempting to checkout at the same time (like a launch on SNKRS), the banks and card issuers cannot currently authenticate users in this new way at a fast enough rate, resulting in checkout failure for some members. You might have noticed more Draws in SNKRS recently. This is by design, to spread the amount of payment requests hitting banks over time, and reduce the chance of checkout failure-while giving our members more time to resubmit launch entries if they do fail.

None of this is ideal, especially on SNKRS. Everyone should have fair access to enter launches regardless of payment type. While EU bank authentication protocol is out of our control, we recognize the need for speed when it comes to SNKRS launch entry.

Therefore, we now offer Apple Pay as a SNKRS payment option for iOS users, and Google Pay for Android users. These payment methods already include multi-factor authentication by default and therefore are not subject to the new authentication protocols imposed by EU Banks and card issuers. Apple Pay and Google Pay provide a way around the recent checkout issues during peak traffic moments.

We do strongly recommend using these payment methods while EU banks ramp up their ability to authenticate high volumes of payment attempts, but the decision to opt into Apple or Google Pay is entirely up to you. Members who continue to use credit cards still have an equal chance at winning launches, but since payment authorization issues may delay those entries we'll continue to use Draw as the entry type for popular releases in the interest of fair access.
