So many of my customer interactions start with “Can you make this?” The answer is yes more than no, but I always let them know I’ll make it in my style. I don’t want to copy anyone else’s design, I want to make it my own.

How did I recreate this wedding countdown in my style?
✨Personalization! A gift is so much more special when it’s personalized. It tells the recipient you put thought into it and wanted it to be one-of-a-kind, something more meaningful than one you’d pluck off a store shelf.
✨I chose semi-transparent white acrylic instead of clear. So many people like the look of clear acrylic but I find it hard to read unless it’s against a plain background. I discourage my customers from clear acrylic.
✨I laser engrave the wording and then fill it with color so it will last. It will never peel off, fade or get ruined with water.
✨Dark lettering instead of white. So much easier to read.
✨I just design it in a style that I would like if it were for me. No disrespect to other designers and makers out there. We’ve all got our own style and that’s what makes our brand unique to us.

If you know me or follow me, you probably know that my two daughters traveled through Europe together this summer on their first solo adventure. I wanted to make something special to commemorate this amazing accomplishment so made them each an ornament noting the places they went.

Engraved and cut wood on clear acrylic with a world map engraved on it. I’m so happy with how it turned out and know they’ll hold onto it forever.

It’s my family’s annual tradition. We don’t hit the malls Thanksgiving weekend, we head out to the Christmas tree farm! I look forward to getting my decorations out (thank you, Mr Yellowfreckle!) and going through all of the ornaments that bring back such joyful memories and remind me of special moments in time. If you’re a maker, you know about mistakes. 🤬 Sometimes they’re costly and hurt. Messing up a Yeti hurts a lot. I’ve engraved tons of them and still hold my breath every time before I push start on my laser engraver. Two of these were messed up so I engraved over it to save and make part of my personal stash. The black one and lilac one were messed up. Can you tell?
