It's been a minute since I've shown up here. So I thought why not hit the ground running with a Self Talk Series ((because I've obviously been telling myself one too on why I couldn't be here))
The first self talk of the series is:
"I ONLY PUT EFFORT INTO GETTING READY FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS"
How many of us have said that?
We only get glammed for a wedding, or a work event, or our class reunions [🙋🏻♀️ been there done that! A story I can totally share another day]
It's so common to think that only the big stuff deserve our best foot forward.
But in these scenarios, we're really putting the importance, emphasis, and priority on others. We are basically unconsciously telling ourselves "because OTHERS will be there, I'll show up looking good"
And I want to ask, how does us showing up for others come before or size up to us showing up for ourselves? Who said we aren't enough of a priority to add a little effort to our everyday lives?
No one's saying you need to be red carpet ready everyday of the week. The idea isn't the extent of the effort, it's the mindset behind the effort.
If we're doing it to please others, to look like we have it all together, or because we don't want to look junk in front of people...I want to challenge us that maybe the reason why we don't like to get ready daily is because we're waiting for meaning determined by somebody else.
✨How can we start to think that our life - not just our life at a gala, a party, or a function but our life every single day - is a special occasion?
✨How can we reframe the feeling that effort only belongs with an invitation?
Because here's your invitation, love.
You're invited to the sweetest, most amazing, most epic event every time you welcome a new day. The to-do list may drag you down, the overwhelm of your day may already have you in a tizzy, but the idea is to prioritize looking yourself in the mirror and honoring that woman right now. No big extravaganza. Just a girl learning to love and honor herself in the sacredness of the time she's been given.
You're worth it mama. Can't wait to see you show up in your life 🙌
Let's chat - have you ever told yourself or unconsciously thought this?
