We are in that time when winter is getting so long and it’s been months since the last of the farmers markets. How’s your honey supply? We’ll be at the LaRue Easter Eggstravaganza on March 21st with our delicious honey products! Come on by and find something to start your Spring off with a smile!

The bees have wintered well and we are happy to announce that we will be offering spring nucs for sale. They will be 5 frame nucs with a mated queen and a thriving colony. They will be ready mid May. Message us for more details or to reserve yours today!

Last week, as the weather started to break (a little tease of Spring), we were able to get out to the yards for the first time this winter. If you look at the snow you’ll see it speckled with an orangish color. That’s the bees coming out of the hive to go to the bathroom! Bees are EXTREMELY hygenic and typically don’t eliminate waste in the hive, “holding” it for sometimes months until the temperatures are warm enough to fly. Oh! Don’t be alarmed by the number of dead bees on the ground in front of some of the hives. That is actually a sign that hive is probably doing ok! The bees are doing some housecleaning and removing bees that died over the winter.
