Equine Guelph offering their Horse Trailer Safety course starting May 4.

You'll master objectives such as:
• Understanding why trailer safety is important and the consequences of unsafe practices
• Recognizing ways in which you can be prepared in emergencies and how to maintain personal safety and the safety of those around you, as well as the safety of your horse(s)
• How to make informed decisions about which towing package (truck and trailer) is right for your needs by calculating a towing system
• Understanding how preventative maintenance and regular inspections can extend the life of your trailer and also improve safety
• Recognizing that hauling a trailer warrants different driving skills
• Finding and understanding current legislation on livestock transport and what insurance you should have
• Creating a personalized checklist for your individual needs

The course is led by Dr. Rebecca Husted, one of the leading experts in large animal emergency rescue. This is the same level of training used by first responders and veterinary teams.

A few details:
• Runs May 4–15 (2 weeks)
• Fully online, flexible schedule
• 5–10 hours per week
• Certificate of completion included
