Most people know us for engraving race medals - but that’s only part of what we do. ⚔️

Today we had the opportunity to be a part of a HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) tournament, engraving weapons for competitors throughout the event. In HEMA, weapons can easily get mixed up since many look nearly identical, so adding names, symbols, and custom markings helps participants quickly identify their own gear while also making it uniquely theirs.

This is one of our favorite parts of the work we do: collaborating with people to create something personal and meaningful, then seeing their excitement when they get the finished piece back.

Today we are at the Purdue Half Marathon and 5k! Something new we’re excited about is a monitor where you can watch your medal being engraved in real time!

Owning a small business is not for the faint of heart. There are so many things you don’t have control over and anything can go wrong. Like this morning as we’re trying to leave our hotel to set up for the Back Your Badge marathon and we lost power right as the elevator started to move. The power came back on eventually, but it was still stuck. An hour and a half later, the fire department had to rescue us and all the roads we needed to take were closed. By the time we got there, the race had started and we were trying to catch up - which never really happened. But we did the best that we could and I would still call it a somewhat successful day. So the lesson of the day is to take the stairs when you absolutely need to be somewhere in a timely manner. 🙂

A few weeks ago, we reached out to one of our favorite creatives, Molly Martz Photography, to capture some shots of our medals—because, honestly, our own photos just weren’t cutting it. And wow, did Molly deliver!

We had hoped to get partially setup tonight in preparation for Carmel Marathon tomorrow, but we have to wait and see what Mother Nature has in store.

Tomorrow we’ll be near the big white tent. If you want us to help you celebrate your accomplishment, be sure to stop by our tent and have your medal engraved or consider getting a ribbon slide to be displayed with your medal.
